Job Description:
Senior Financial analyst – Capital management and Executive Reporting
The Specialized Reporting and Solution Management Team (SRSM) Insurance Team is part of the broader Specialized Reporting and Solutions Management Team, and reports under the Chief Accountant's Department of the Bank.
From a business perspective, SRSM Insurance Team supports the TD Insurance CFO. The team is responsible for specialized financial and regulatory reporting for the General Insurance and Life Insurance business. In addition, SRSM is responsible for providing effective accounting advice considering business, accounting and reporting implications, systems, processes, and control impacts, both at the subsidiary and the Bank level.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Financial Analyst with strong accounting skills, good business acumen and demonstrated problem solving ability to support overseeing Capital Management and Executive Reporting in coordinating the end-to-end Capital Management and Board and Audit Committee. The Senior Financial analyst will be in close contact with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of TD Insurance to present financial results on a regular basis.
This role is responsible for preparing and presenting actual Minimum Capital test (MCT) and forecast. It ensures accuracy, consistency and compliance with regulatory guidelines while working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Actuaries and Reinsurance. The Senior Financial analyst will also play a key role in preparing and presenting Board and Audit Committee financial results to the executives of TD Insurance.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present Minimum Capital Test (MCT) actuals, forecasts, and plans, ensuring clear understanding of all variances and alignment with regulator guidelines.
Prepare Board and Audit Committee reports, analyze and explain financial results, reconcile to general ledger and source data, promptly identify and resolve variances.
Provide support for Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) initiatives and other governance requirements.
Analyze and review annual financial statement results at both detailed and executive summary levels.
Identify and explain quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year variances for executive stakeholders.
Collaborate with many stakeholders to gather information for Board, Audit Committee, Financial Statement, OSFI and MCT reporting.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and facilitating remediation of findings.
Proactively identify and assist with process improvement initiatives.
Provide ad hoc support as needed.
Key Competencies
Bachelor's degree in accounting
CPA designation
5 years of experience in financial reporting or regulatory reporting roles, preferable in insurance business.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines
