At Tecsys, the software we deliver keeps hospitals, pharmacies and distributors supplied with what they need, when they need it. Every role here connects to that outcome.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Java Developer, you will join a team at the heart of the backend systems that power mission-critical supply chains in healthcare, retail, and complex distribution.

You'll design and scale secure, performant services that directly impact the reliability and agility of our customers' operations, from hospital operating rooms to warehouse floors and retail storefronts. As a hands-on contributor and technical mentor, you'll lead by example, contribute to technical direction, and help improve our engineering practices. Your strong technical judgment, clear communication, and ability to collaborate across disciplines will help move initiatives forward and add real value to our customers and our team.

What You’ll Be Part Of

Tecsys is trusted by mission-critical organizations in healthcare and distribution to power resilient, efficient and secure supply chains. We are a global provider of cloud-based, AI-driven software, publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: TCS).

Three values guide how we work. We earn trust daily by valuing the customer and acting with integrity. We build each other up by recognizing individual strengths and working as one team. And we explore boldly by staying curious and adapting for success.

You’ll join a culture driven by curiosity, continuous learning, and people who challenge what’s possible.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy high-quality backend solutions using Java (Spring Boot, microservices).
  • Act as a technical resource for the team by conducting code reviews, contributing to design discussions, supporting hands-on QA work, and mentoring other developers.
  • Translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions in collaboration with product and business stakeholders.
  • Integrate AI into your work, both in the solutions you deliver and in how the team works, and mentor developers to adopt AI-first approaches that accelerate delivery.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies where they add value to our platform.
  • Apply and promote best practices in performance, scalability, observability, and security, partnering with DevOps and Operations to ensure software is production-ready and maintainable.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and retrospectives, and promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

What You Bring

You do not need to match every line below. If most of it describes you, apply:

  • 7+ years of experience building Java-based backend systems in production environments, with hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design, microservices architecture, and RESTful services.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot, Java 11+, and testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
  • Solid foundation in RDBMS (preferably PostgreSQL; Oracle and SQL Server) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (a plus).
  • Experience with Git, Maven, and modern IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, Visual Studio Code), and with incorporating AI tools (Kiro, Claude, or others) into day-to-day development.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver scalable solutions in complex, distributed architectures, and to mentor developers, collaborate with QA, participate in code reviews, and develop proofs of concept.
  • Strong business orientation and excellent communication skills, connecting teams and aligning engineering efforts with product outcomes. Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for communicating effectively with clients, suppliers, business partners, and colleagues outside of Quebec.

Benefits

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Remote-first flexibility and the trust to manage your own time
  • Benefits and vacation from day one
  • Pension plan with competitive employer contribution
  • Employee events and community initiatives
  • Room to learn, stretch and take on new challenges
