POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to be responsible for documenting user stories and acceptance criteria throughout the various phases of BDC’s large-scale project to replace its marketing automation tools. The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail to support testing activities and identify issues, while also being able to connect requirements and delivery decisions to business objectives, value, and impact.

Product Owner, Operational Marketing Data

We are seeking a Product Owner to join our project data squad, with a strong focus on building and strengthening operational marketing data foundations in support of a future Customer Data Platform (CDP) and Marketing Automation tool. This role plays a key part in ensuring current marketing data is structured and reliable, building a strong foundation to drive migration toward our future target-state platforms.

In this role, you will own the backlog related to marketing and customer operational data, ensuring it is well structured, consistent, governed, and ready to be activated across marketing platforms. You will be part of one of three teams on a large-scale initiative, working closely with other Product Owners as well as Business Analysts, the Product Manager, Architects, and Developers.

This role is well suited to someone who is comfortable working close to systems and data flows, understands how operational data moves through a marketing ecosystem, and enjoys solving structural and quality issues that enable teams downstream.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Operational data foundations

  • Support the definition and evolution of core marketing and customer data structures needed for the project, including entities, attributes, and relationships.

  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks in existing operational data across marketing and customer platforms and help define remediation priorities.

  • Contribute to data mapping and alignment efforts between source systems, the new Customer Data Platform (CDP), and downstream activation tools.

  • Partner with data governance and architecture teams to ensure data definitions, rules, and usage are consistent and aligned with target‑state design.

  • Monitor and support improvements to data quality, completeness, consistency, and reliability within the marketing data domain.

Product ownership & backlog management

  • Act as Product Owner for the operational marketing data domain within the project Data Squad, owning the backlog, priorities, and delivery outcomes.

  • Translate business needs, operational issues, and platform requirements into clear, actionable user stories and backlog items.

  • Triage, qualify, and prioritize requests related to operational data, balancing short‑term delivery needs with longer‑term CDP foundations.

  • Ensure backlog items are aligned with project milestones, architectural standards, and future‑state data objectives.

Delivery & collaboration

  • Work closely with the Technical Lead, IT developers, Business Analysts, Quality Analysts, data engineers, and architects to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and support execution within Agile / Kanban frameworks.

  • Drive  sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery reviews, with a focus on ensuring data assets are usable, stable, and fit for purpose.

  • Support testing activities, including validation of data flows and basic user acceptance support, to ensure delivered changes behave as expected.

  • Collaborate with functional and integration squads to ensure data decisions remain coherent across squads and do not introduce downstream operational issues.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience working with operational data in marketing, CRM, customer platforms, or similar environments

  • Experience acting as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role responsible for translating needs into delivery‑ready requirements

  • Strong understanding of how customer and marketing data flows through platforms and integrations

  • Hands‑on experience with platforms such as Customer Insights, CDPs, CRM systems, or marketing automation tools (Eloqua, SAP Marketing Cloud, Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, etc.)

  • Comfort working with imperfect data and driving incremental improvements to quality and structure

  • Experience working within Agile or Kanban delivery models

  • Familiarity with concepts such as data mapping, data quality rules, identifiers, consent, and activation readiness

  • Technical skills such as SQL, basic data querying, or integration concepts are an asset

  • Experience in financial services, B2B, or complex enterprise environments (asset)

  • Bilingual (French and English)
