Job Description

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to help keep our operations running smoothly by ensuring the right materials, products, and supplier support are available when needed. This role connects purchasing, operations, inventory management, suppliers, and internal teams to prevent shortages, manage priorities, and support day-to-day execution.

In a typical day, you may review purchase needs and inventory levels in the ERP system, place or adjust purchase orders, follow up with suppliers on confirmations and delivery dates, monitor stock availability, and help resolve issues that could impact production, yard operations, customer orders, or product launches. You will work closely with Operations, Logistics, Customer Service, Finance, the Yard, and vendors to communicate delays, address shortages, clarify priorities, and make sure materials arrive where they are needed, when they are needed.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying organized, following up, solving problems, and working with many departments to keep things moving. The ideal candidate has experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory management, manufacturing, distribution, or another operational environment, along with strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and comfort working with ERP systems and Excel.

Operational Purchasing

  • Analyze and process purchase orders generated by the ERP system or requested by operations.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials to Techo-Bloc sites.
  • Communicate delays, shortages, supply risks, or delivery changes to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Support urgent operational needs while maintaining proper purchasing controls and documentation.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve order confirmations, pricing discrepancies, backorders, lead time concerns, and delivery issues.

Master Data Management (D365)

  • Own and maintain item master data in D365: SKU creation, item attributes, and lifecycle status changes (active, phase-out, discontinued).
  • Manage unit of measure (UOM) setup and unit conversion factors to ensure accurate ordering, receiving, and inventory reporting.
  • Maintain vendor master records, item-vendor relationships, and pricing/lead time data in the system.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across sites to support reliable purchasing, planning, and inventory reporting.
  • Audit and clean up master data on a recurring basis to catch errors, duplicates, or outdated entries before they cause downstream issues.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Yard teams on capacity, packaging, labeling, dimensions, storage constraints, and handling requirements.
  • Collaborate with Logistics to define the best supply lane, delivery plan, and stocking approach from supplier to Techo-Bloc sites.
  • Work with Customer Service and Distribution to communicate launch timelines, product availability, stocking sites, and delivery ETAs.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounts Payable, and stakeholders to validate landed cost, transport margin impact, invoice discrepancies, and vendor billing concerns.
  • Ensure project timelines, assignments, risks, and dependencies are clearly communicated and followed through.

Reporting, Process Improvement & Tools

  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, vendor information, documentation, and follow-up notes.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend practical solutions to improve operational execution and cross-functional alignment.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience with an ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft AX, SAP, or similar is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier follow-up, inventory availability, and operational priorities.
  • Ability to analyze cost, lead time, delivery performance, and supplier information to support business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Bilingual English / French required (English is required to serve our customers and suppliers based in the USA & outside QC).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.

Key Competencies

  • Strategic mindset combined with strong operational execution.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized, autonomous, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple files at the same time.
  • Collaborative approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional departments.
  • Resourceful, results-driven, and focused on continuous improvement.
