Job Description:

Key Responsibilities 


  • Design, build, and manage automated dashboards, reporting solution, and data pipelines that provide timely, accurate views of underwriting performance, portfolio trends, service measures, and operational outcomes.  
  • Develop self-serve analytical tools that help Underwriting leaders and business partners explore results, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions. 
  • Perform deep-dive exploratory and statistical analyses to uncover emerging trends, performance drivers, risk patterns, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities.  
  • Translate business questions into analytical solutions by defining measures, selecting appropriate methods, and turning complex findings into practical recommendations.  
  • Evaluate the impact of underwriting initiatives including process changes, business rules, segmentation strategies, automation, and other operational or portfolio actions.  
  • Partner across Underwriting and related functions to understand workflows, data needs, and decision points, and to deliver solutions that support measurable business outcomes.  
  • Act as an AI and automation enabler by applying appropriate tools to streamline analytical processes, accelerate insight generation, and modernize recurring workflows.  
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through robust validation, reconciliation, documentation, and continuous improvement of data processes.  
  • Communicate insights clearly using effective data visualization and storytelling for both technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Contribute to team capability by sharing technical knowledge, promoting analytical best practices, and supporting colleagues through peer review and mentoring.  
  • Mentor and support team growth, sharing technical knowledge and business insight to uplift team capability as a senior member of the team 

Requirements & Skills 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field 
  • This job posting is intended for candidates with 5-7 years of experience, including:  
  • Experience in the general insurance industry (preferred) 
  • Expertise in analytics, data analysis, and statistical analysis 
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous business problems and develop evidence-based recommendations.  
  • Strong coding skills in SQL and Python, including data preparation, analysis, automation, and quality-control routines.  
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Shiny/Posit.  
  • Experience working with large or complex datasets and building repeatable, well-documented analytical solutions.  
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data validation, reconciliation, testing, and documentation.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Critical thinking, creative problem-solving, sound judgment, and effective priority management.  
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. 
  • Bilingual in English and French (preferred) 

Insurance Experience  

  • Candidates with general insurance experience will be strongly considered, especially those who can combine insurance knowledge with hands-on analytics and technical delivery.  
  • Experience in Property & Casualty insurance, particularly in Underwriting, Pricing, Product, Claims, Risk, or Insurance Operations, is preferred.  
  • Knowledge of underwriting processes, risk assessment, policy lifecycle, portfolio performance, or insurance operational metrics is a significant asset.  
  • Experience working with policy, quote, claims, billing, broker, customer, or underwriting workflow data is an asset.  
  • Familiarity with Guidewire or comparable policy administration, claims, or insurance technology platforms is an asset.
