The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Executive Officer, Financial Lines, to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Account Executive, you will be responsible for producing and underwriting new and renewal Private and Non-Profit (PNP) business, driving profitable growth, and managing a specialized portfolio of Financial Lines products specifically for the Québec market.

In this pivotal role, you will act as a key representative of Definity in the market, building and maintaining robust relationships with our broker partners, and delivering exceptional service and expertise. You will also serve as a local expert and a mentor for other team members in the region

What to Expect 

Portfolio Management & Underwriting

  • Assess, price, and negotiate terms on complex new and renewal Financial Lines business in accordance with Definity’s underwriting guidelines
  • Make appropriate decisions within your underwriting authority and provide sound recommendations to leadership.
  • Continuously manage your book of business to maintain quality and achieve superior financial results (premium, loss ratio, retention).
  • Ensure all underwriting documentation is accurate and adheres to company standards.

 

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve business objectives with your assigned brokers in Québec.
  • Cultivate and manage strong, proactive relationships with key broker partners through a high level of visibility and a disciplined sales management approach.
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities and cross-sell other Definity products.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service standards, including quick response times and deep product knowledge.

 

Market Analysis & Strategy

  • Monitor industry trends, legal developments, and competitor activities within the Professional and Management Liability space.
  • Act as a local, regional, or industry resident expert, capitalizing on market opportunities unique to Québec.

 

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff within the team.
  • Actively participate in and lead regularly scheduled sales meetings

 

What you Bring 

  • Required: Fluently bilingual in French and English (written and spoken) to effectively service our Québec broker network and clientele.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial/financial lines underwriting experience, with a strong preference for experience in Private and Non-Profit liability.
  • University degree, preferably with a focus in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
  • CIP, FCIP, or RPLU designation (or actively working towards completion) is strongly preferred/Asset
  • Thorough understanding of Financial Lines policy wordings, pricing models, risk assessment techniques, and current insurance trends.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication skills tailored to building strong broker relationships.

 

Salary Range: $107,800-$157,800

High degree of proficiency in English is required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
