The VP Information Technology is responsible for the establishment and execution of the company-wide IT strategy and ensures its integration with the company’s business strategy. The VP is also responsible for the delivery of all information and technology (I&T) capabilities required to achieve successful business capability performance.  

The VP plays a multifaceted role, balancing responsibilities as both a technology and business leader. They head the IT function and are a part of the leadership team. As a result, they are accountable for achieving objectives and activities critical to achieving the outcomes important for the company strategy. 

The VP brings current knowledge and future vision of leveraging I&T assets in business model design, business capability performance reengineering, product and service development, and support for developing competitive advantage. 

This role will work to leverage a depth of technological expertise, strong business acumen and top-notch leadership skills to strengthen, mentor, develop and lead a high performing technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. 

This VP position reports to the CFO and oversees three Directors directly under their responsibility: Infrastructure & Operations, Information Systems, and Program Management Office.

Ultimately, the VP will also take responsibilities of our Colombian IT Team & Operations.

Strategic Leadership 

  • Develops and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the company’s mission, vision, maturity profile and long-term objectives. 
  • Establishes active relationships with C-suite executives, business unit (BU) leaders and their team. Act as a trusted advisor to ensure all executive leaders can make confident decisions about the application of I&T within their BUs and across the organization. 
  • Collaborates actively in all activities defined for these objectives to ensure all decisions and plans are fully informed by technology opportunities, requirements, best practices, and risks and challenges. In certain areas, the VP will be expected to proactively bring new opportunities and challenges to the executive leadership team, lead discussions and make informed decisions. 
  • Establishes technology roadmaps to support business goals such as cost reduction, quality improvement, and faster time-to-market. 

Facilitate Innovation

  • Leads strategy development efforts to leverage digital capabilities and innovation efforts to find options to create and deliver new value. 
  • Utilizes data analytics, machine learning, and AI to enable smarter decision-making and predictive capabilities.  
  • Provides practical advice and best practices to take advantage of new, or emerging opportunities and successfully deliver the expected business outcomes. 
  • Manages partnerships with technology vendors, consultants, and solution providers to implement innovative solutions. 

Operational Technology

  • Contributes actively to company strategy and business capability strategic planning. Leads the development of the IT strategic plan and technology roadmap. Ensures integration of IT strategic plan and technology roadmap with the company’s strategic planning process and the resulting business strategy and plans. 
  • Supports the company mission by determining the operating model for I&T to foster business-oriented and digital-ready culture, mindsets and practices.
  • Leads analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. 
  • Directs the design and implementation of the I&T operating model, organizational structure and governance process. Uses influence and negotiation skills to create synergies across the organization to enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions to achieve business goals. 
  • Develops and controls the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT to ensure investment in technologies is consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives, changing cost and financial models. The investments should be within plan. 
  • Enhances IT’s capabilities by leveraging a multitude of internal and external resources. 

Infrastructure Management 

  • Maintains, develops and enforces robust cybersecurity strategies to protect IT and OT environments, including industrial control systems (ICS). 
  • Delivers I&T capabilities with unwavering availability, reliability, sustainability, cost-efficiency, and robust security, while aligning IT contributions with agility to adapt to evolving business objectives, goals, and strategies 
  • Ensures the scalability, security, and reliability of application solutions, implementing appropriate architecture and design principles. 
  • Conducts regular reviews of application configurations and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement. 
  • Enhances IT’s capabilities by leveraging a multitude of internal and external resources.
  • Responsible for all Applications, Infrastructure, Security, Data & Analytics and Enterprise Asset Management (EAS) not related to Operational Technologies (OT).  IT works in support & collaboration with OT Teams to ensure proper alignment and execution to and out of OT.  
  • Collaborates with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to leverage technology for improved process efficiency.  

People Leadership

  • Engages and works with key stakeholders to map out scenarios for IT workforce transformations. Develops the IT workforce strategy and action plans that align with and enable the effective execution of business and IT strategies. 
  • Develops and maintains an IT workforce with a balanced mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies. Enhances agility to achieve digital business objectives while ensuring core IT functions remain reliable, stable and efficient. 
  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the IT leadership team and staff. 
  • Builds and leads a high-performing and engaged IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement by providing coaching and direction to the IT team.  
  • Mentors and develops IT leaders to support succession planning and long-term organizational needs.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Proven track record, with 15 years or more of experience in IT or related functions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership responsibilities
  • Bilingualism  in French and English (spoken and written), Spanish is an asset
