ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a high-impact, highly visible role at a company that moves fast. You'll own the indirect tax function end-to-end — bringing structure, strategy, and expertise to support a global, AI-powered travel tech company scaling across 200+ partners worldwide.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Design and implement end-to-end indirect tax processes for new business lines and cross-functional growth projects
Act as the strategic tax partner on commercial contracts — assess implications, influence outcomes, and design the right treatment for complex global transactions
Own Canadian indirect tax compliance: filings, remittances, reconciliations, and journal entries
Manage international indirect tax and Federal Excise Tax compliance; challenge external advisors when needed
Lead tax audits, desk reviews, and authority inquiries from start to finish
Drive complex multi-jurisdictional research and resolve tax issues before they escalate
Stay ahead of regulatory and tech changes — translate them into recommendations and implement independently
Build the global indirect tax policies and internal controls that will scale with the business
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
CPA + 8+ years in a Big 4 or complex global corporate environment
Deep expertise in Canadian indirect tax; solid knowledge of US and international frameworks
Proven ability to navigate tax regulations where business models don't fit neatly into the rules
SaaS, e-commerce, or fast-scaling tech experience strongly preferred
Expert tax research skills — you turn complex regulation into clear business strategy
Strong communicator who influences and negotiates at the executive level
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and advanced tax technology
French is an asset
