What You’ll Be Doing
The management of risk is a fundamental element of CIBC's objective of consistent and sustainable performance over the long term. To support that goal, CIBC’s Enterprise Risk Management group performs several critical activities including monitoring, measuring and controlling the credit, investment, market, operational, liquidity, reputation and legal risks to CIBC. The Project Management is a unit within Risk Management. The group is responsible for operating, maintaining and enhancing the risk system infrastructure. It works in conjunction with other areas of CIBC to ensure collaboratively that trading credit, market and operational risks are appropriately identified, measured and reported, that all key issues are investigated, and that the underpinning technology solutions are comprehensive and robust.As a Senior Project Manager within this team, you'll be responsible for leading strategic projects or programs. This includes delivery from end to end using our Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) methodology including various phases such as; initiation and requirements, design, construction, testing, implementation and closure. If you are keen on the various components within Risk and have the critical eye to solve old problems in new ways, if you enjoy unravelling complex problems with multiple parts and if you have a deep background in delivery, then this will be an appropriate role for you.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
Project delivery and review – Be responsible and accountable for leading strategic projects and programs from end to end, including various phases such as; initiation and requirements, design, construction, testing, implementation and closure and may be product, channel, business development or legal and regulatory in nature. Stakeholders will include individuals from across Retail & Business Banking and from across the CIBC enterprise. You will act as business sponsor representative for projects where required, monitor projects from a product perspective to ensure approved projects are completed successfully, on time and on budget.
Strategy Development – Participate and contribute to the development of policy and strategy for Risk Management. You will promote an environment where innovative solutions are employed to ensure efficient, timely problem resolutions, which meet business needs and regulatory requirements.
People and Relationship Management – Lead matrix team members in an enthusiastic manner, creating a forward-thinking culture of success. You will provide motivation, coaching, training and developmental opportunities to ensure employees can perform at or above the necessary standards. You will also assist staff with complex problems and in the resolution of difficult or complex issues.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience in Project Management & Project Delivery for a minimum of 4 years. You have the ability to manage multiple small to medium sized projects running simultaneously. It’s an asset if you have experience with leading business projects and/ have supported LOBs within Risk Management. Proven ability of understanding technology impacting Business projects & being able to translate for Business use is also a strong asset.
