Purpose of Job:
The Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) secures profitable incremental unit growth by closing large National Accounts, Regional Accounts, WD/Jobber, and non-mandated customer market segments. In addition, this role will identify, qualify, document, and partner with customers in their area of focus.
Job Components:
Meet or exceed annual new unit sales goal.
Responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
Build out an extensive new business pipeline which contains prospects at various stages of your pipeline to ensure consistent performance.
Pursue larger National Account customers through extensive sales expertise and face-to-face contact.
Prepare and present sales proposals, quotes, and presentations to prospective customers.
Negotiate terms and contracts with customers, ensuring favorable outcomes for both parties.
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective customers and nurture relationships where possible.
Conduct in-depth needs assessments and consultations with customers to understand their requirements, provide solutions, and close the sale.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet customer specifications.
Generate unit volume through individual sales efforts using proven targeted growth strategies and Interstate’s value proposition.
Influence cross-functional peers to provide a best-in-class customer experience for your accounts.
Dynamically prioritize time and focus based on relevant market inputs (prospect volume, emerging account conditions, competitive vulnerabilities).
Establish credibility by using industry insights and product knowledge to convey Interstate’s value proposition in each market segment.
Lead cross-functional deal teams to pursue larger prospects.
Demonstrate a thorough technical knowledge of Interstate Batteries products and applications.
Coordinate transitions with the Account Management Team on National Accounts, Regional Accounts, and Jobbers secured after your work with the accounts is completed.
Document customer and prospect interactions in Salesforce.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
5+ years of B2B/Commercial sales experience required.

Strong customer service and business development skills.
Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple opportunities.
Salesforce.com or other well-known CRM experience.
Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
Ability to work and travel independently on a sustained basis.

Scope Data:
Pursue accounts 50k units to 1M units in size.
Expense reporting and credit card reconciliation.
Strong interface with Distributors, Business Consultants / Regional Managers, Account Managers, Marketing Team, and Supply Team.
Maintain, generate, and facilitate all travel requirements.
Effective internal and external relationship building at all levels.

Work Environment:
Ability to sustain posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50+ lbs.
Exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
Prolonged use of personal computer & telephone.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Frequent travel to markets – driving and air.
