THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Social Media Specialist, you will develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies that amplify ActBlue's mission and engage progressive communities across all major platforms. You'll create compelling content that drives organic growth while navigating the dynamic progressive political landscape with strategic precision – staying at the forefront of advocacy without crossing critical lines. This role requires a creative strategist who can balance authentic engagement with political awareness, ensuring our voice resonates powerfully within the progressive tech space while maintaining professional standards and organizational integrity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies across all major platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, Threads) 
  • Create and manage a strategic content calendar that aligns with organizational goals and political moments 
  • Produce high-quality original content, including graphics, videos, and written posts, using industry-standard tools 
  • Execute video content creation and editing for multiple platforms and formats 
  • Monitor and engage with progressive political conversations, identifying opportunities for authentic participation 
  • Conduct competitive analysis and trend monitoring within the political tech and progressive advocacy space 
  • Navigate sensitive political content with strategic judgment, staying "right up to the edge without crossing the line" 
  • Build and execute organic growth strategies focused on community building and authentic engagement 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (fundraising, advocacy, product, communications) to amplify campaigns 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with progressive influencers, partner organizations, and thought leaders 
  • Create and manage social media reporting dashboards for the leadership team and executive leadership team (ELT) 
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide strategic insights to inform future content and engagement strategies 
  • Establish community management protocols and engagement guidelines 
  • Optimize posting schedules and content formats based on platform-specific best practices and audience behavior
  •  Support live event coverage and real-time political moment amplification

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3-5 years of social media marketing experience, preferably in political tech, progressive advocacy, or nonprofit sectors 
  • Deep understanding of the progressive political landscape and grassroots movement dynamics 
  • Proven track record of organic social media growth and community building Proficiency with social media management platforms (HootSuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, or similar) 
  • Strong video editing and content creation skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms 
  • Experience with social media analytics and reporting tools, with ability to translate data into actionable insights 
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on content creation abilities 
  • Excellent judgment in navigating politically sensitive content and maintaining appropriate organizational voice 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously 
  • Experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership teams 
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly during breaking news and political moments
  • Passion for progressive causes and commitment to advancing democratic participation 
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to adapt voice and tone across different platforms and audiences 
  • Detail-oriented approach with ability to work under pressure in fast-paced political environments

This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year), and additional travel may be required for select positions.

*While ActBlue is currently registered to support remote work in the states listed above, we possess the ability to register in additional states as needed. Work Schedule: This role requires availability during established, regular business hours (Mon-Fri).

Work Environment: Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.

Salary Range Details:

Salary Range: $$71,050 - $85,000 - $98,900

ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
