About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Analyst to ensure the quality of our software solutions, focusing on financial changes in our transactional data warehouse and IFRS17 calculation engine. The ideal candidate will understand business, financial, and IT requirements and work collaboratively across teams. Responsibilities include leading collaboration with stakeholders for requirement and design walkthroughs, contributing to test strategy and planning, preparing testing requirement traceability matrices, and developing and executing detailed test cases. The candidate will also engage with finance stakeholders, demonstrating an understanding of IFRS 17 and P&C Insurance Business to ensure effective communication and documentation.
What you'll do here:
Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, developers, and business analysts, to understand requirements and define testing traceability matrix.
Define the scope of testing activities, including functional, regression, integration, and supporting user acceptance testing, based on project requirements.
Provide valuable input for test planning and strategy, including the estimations and prepare comprehensive documentation for test cases, test scenarios, ensuring clarity, detail and accuracy.
Communicate test cases, test scenarios to all the relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment on testing objectives, expectations and robust test coverage.
Lead the execution of both manual and automated test cases, ensuring thorough validation of software functionality and performance against defined requirements.
Lead the defect reporting process, ensure that all identified defects are logged accurately, prioritized, and tracker through resolution using established methodologies. Collaborate with development team to ensure swift communication and resolution of issues, provide clear reports on defect status and impact to relevant stakeholders
Proactively monitor and assess risks against the testing plan, propose mitigation plans and align with the impacted stakeholders.
Continuously analyze and improve test planning and strategy processes to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency, contributing to overall success.
Proficiency in working with enterprise databases and executing complex queries to conduct strategic data analysis on financial results is considered an asset.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Studies/ minor in finance or accounting are considered a plus
Minimum 5+ of relevant experience in a finance system, testing or quality assurance or other in an innovative environment within a large organization
Knowledge of IFRS17 Insurance Contracts, P&C insurance industry is a major asset
Ability to interact with a variety of people at all levels of organization, including management and some external contributors
Ability to work in a dynamic IT environment and with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong analytical skills, insight, and discipline
Leadership skills, team spirit, independent and effective
Proficient use of Office 365, Excel, Visio, Jira, Snowflake, RDBMS (e.g., Toad, MS SQL server).
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Bilingualism. Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
