Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing to lead sourcing and vendor management activities for assigned vendors, and projects within the Technology category. This individual must have a proven track record of managing and leading complex vendor negotiations with Tier One SaaS providers as well as being highly skilled with demonstrable experience in developing, implementing and delivering category and sourcing strategies within the Technology category. Core to this role is the ability to influence and lead cross functional teams to execute the strategies and complete related negotiations with Tier 1 suppliers on time. The successful candidate must also have a strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions and demonstrated ability to write and negotiate contracts. The Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing will focus on traditional sourcing models including portfolio/category analysis, planning, consolidation, demand management, supplier scorecards and vendor management.

Strategic Sourcing is a dynamic and growing organization within Autodesk’s Procurement Organization. In addition to the specific sourcing and vendor management responsibilities, this position is expected to contribute to the maturity of the overall function. This includes creating and refining processes, tools and templates that can be applied to across all vendors and categories worldwide.

This position will be based in Costa Rica and will report to the Director, Technology Sourcing, Strategic Sourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee sourcing and vendor management activities for assigned vendors and projects within the IT category

  • Review and analyze data to determine cost savings opportunities through vendor consolidation, demand management, and/or contract renegotiations

  • Develop and implement advanced category and sourcing strategies for a range of technology category by collaborating with senior stakeholders and incorporating a thorough understanding of technical requirements, departmental priorities and strategies, and relevant market trends

  • Drive the RFx process, including requirements gathering, identifying potential respondents, establishing go/no go criteria, creating scorecards with criteria and weighting, organizing bidder's conferences, negotiation, and contracting

  • Lead complex and high-stakes negotiations for technology contracts and statements of work, serving as a liaison between business and legal

  • Identify and mitigate areas of risk for the business, providing strategic recommendations where applicable

  • Maintain proficiency in all relevant policies and procedures; articulate and enforce such policies and procedures

  • Recognize areas for improvement and drive initiatives to achieve efficiency gains across the organization

  • Provide business with approved sourcing tools, processes, and knowledge to qualify vendors and manage vendor relationships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers/clients and vendors

  • Excel under pressure while managing changing priorities and timelines

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in sourcing initiatives to senior stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with senior business areas

  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex negotiations with Tier 1 technology suppliers

  • Proven ability to successfully deliver and implement category strategies in the Technology Category

  • Highly effective interpersonal and influencing skills necessary to obtain continued support from senior internal clients

  • Highly developed business and communications skills necessary to represent Autodesk successfully in high-level dealings with third parties

  • Work with senior business units and corporate legal staff to prepare legally binding and enforceable documents

  • Recommend systems and process improvements to increase contract effectiveness across the enterprise

  • Coordinate and provide contract and negotiation-related training to senior business units

  • 10+ years’ experience focused on Technology Strategic Sourcing and Category Management

  • Extensive experience negotiating with Tier 1 technology suppliers such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, SAP, IBM & Adobe is a must have

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • BA or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

  • Strong negotiation/influencing and presentation skills

  • Procurement-specific qualification a plus
