As a Senior Manager of Data Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Merchant Services, you will play a pivotal leadership role. Your responsibilities will include providing technical guidance and mentorship to several technical teams, as well as foreseeing the requirements and potential dependencies of other data users within the organization. Leveraging your expertise, your insights will shape budget and technical decisions to enhance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
  • Provides overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level data engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
  • Makes strategic decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
  • Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience leading teams of data engineers.
  • Ability to guide and coach teams in order to achieve goals aligned to strategic initiatives.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures and pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform including their data services.
  • Strong database skills with a thorough understanding of databases and data modelling concepts.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Proficiency in Big Data technologies, with a strong focus on Performance Optimization using best practices.
  • Strong comprehension of Snowflake implementations.
