ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Manager, Global Government Affairs (GGA) will report directly to the Senior Director, Public Relations and Global Government Affairs and will work in collaboration with the GGA team to manage international government relations, contribute on domestic relations, when required, and will be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing streamlined processes to enhance efficiency across the Global Government Affairs function. This role is transversal, supporting our offices in Montreal, Ottawa, London, and Hong Kong, and will require close collaboration with internal partners such as Legal, Tax, and Deal teams to ensure alignment with PSP Investments global strategy. The preferred location of this role is Montreal.

As a Senior Manager, Global Government Affairs, you will :

  • Develop and implement structured processes to support the work of the Global Government Affairs team, ensuring consistency and efficiency

  • Assist the Senior Director, Public Relations and Global Government Affairs in overseeing the budget and manage the process for all contacts with Government Relations (GR) firms, along with Request for Proposals and other procurement-related processes

  • Manage the rollout and integration of new processes, working closely with internal business partners

  • Conduct extensive research and analysis on international policy developments, regulatory changes, and political risks that could impact PSP Investments’ global operations

  • Monitor and track legislative developments in key international jurisdictions, including parliamentary processes, bill tracking, and regulatory changes, to assess potential impacts on PSP Investments’ operations and provide strategic recommendations

  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders, helping them navigate the evolving political and regulatory landscapes in Canada and abroad

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Legal Affairs, Taxation, Risk, and Investment Teams) to manage reputational risks and regulatory compliance

  • Prepare strategic briefing materials, messaging and analysis for senior leadership meetings with government stakeholders

  • Support the Global Government Affairs team with ongoing projects and initiatives, with a primary focus on international jurisdictions

  • Track and support stakeholder engagement in key jurisdictions of interest to PSP Investments, with a focus on government entities, key decision makers and policy organizations

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Relations, International Relations, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in government, public relations, government relations, public policy, or a related field within a financial institution, regulatory agency, or public sector organization

  • Understanding of political, regulatory, and economic landscapes in various jurisdictions

  • Experience in supporting with procurement processes, including but not limited to Request for Proposals, Statement of Works, etc.  

  • Proven experience building and managing relationships with high-level government stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders on a global scale

  • Bilingualism: English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP Investments employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
