What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Consultant, Database Infrastructure & Cloud Platforms, you will join CIBC’s Cloud Engineering and Transformation team, you will provide technical leadership on infrastructure design, best practices and standards to implement Oracle Database capabilities at enterprise level.  You will play a pivotal role in supporting and advancing CIBC’s database infrastructure, focusing on both on-premises and cloud environments. As an engineer you will be working on Oracle Multitenant Architecture, OEM infrastructure, Oracle Key Vault (OKV), Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and Patching using Oracle lifecycle management (OLM). As an engineer you will provide 3rd level support. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with PostgreSQL in Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters and within the Azure cloud environment. You will adopt Agile methodologies for projects deliverables and day to day activities.

How You’ll Succeed

• Leadership & Communication – Collaborate with senior leaders across the company and make informed recommendations to enhance automation related solutions. Weigh business needs against technology offerings, security concerns and provide recommendations to improve automation, which are practical and achievable
• Governance – Proactively contribute to governance initiatives in the development of company policies, audit requirements etc. Provide technical or business guidance to clients within and outside your own department.
• Engineering – Lead evaluation, selection, design and implementation of new and emerging products and techniques; support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options; provide comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams; provide subject matter expertise on specific existing technologies. Manage the ongoing vitality of the technology throughout its lifecycle.
• Oracle Multi-tenant – As SME for Oracle Multi-tenant architecture allows databases to function like a container database with multiple pluggable databases. Your expertise and experience will play a key role to transform existing Non-CDB databases to CDB/PDB databases and  bring consolidation of databases and  ease of database management.
• Container & Cloud – Support both open-source and EDB PostgreSQL including container technologies. Coordinate with CaaS, cloud engineering teams, and vendors to deliver containerized solutions and adopt cloud transformation initiatives.

Who You Are

• You can demonstrate 5- 7 years of experience in. Oracle and PostgreSQL database experience in production, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, automation, and advanced troubleshooting in mission-critical environments. Minimum 3-5 years of experience with managing Oracle multi-tenant databases, including initial setup, administering CDB/PDB databases and converting non-CDB databases into CDB/PDB model. Experienced maintaining OEM Oracle Enterprise Manager. Experience with OLM (Oracle Lifecycle Management) is an added asset. In-depth knowledge of Database hardening, audit compliance reporting and scripting. Strong knowledge of high availability and replication patterns for Oracle RAC and Data guard. In addition to the general Oracle database experience, having Golden Gate experience will make you an ideal candidate for this position. Working knowledge of Oracle Advance Security products Transparent Data Encryption at rest TDE, Database Vault and Oracle Key Vault OKV. Working knowledge of automation and DevOps tools like Ansible, GitHub, Artifactory and Agile methodologies.
