POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis, is actively involved in the preparation of BDC’s five-year corporate plan and budget planning, including the integration of advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to enhance planning, forecasting and decision-making.

This position designs, creates, and implements financial models to present multiple simulations, analysis, and reports related to financial reporting. This position is also responsible for improving and proposing solutions to improve tools, analysis models, databases, etc., as well as mentoring team members as a subject matter specialist.

We are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with a passion for the FP&A function who will report directly to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Design, create and implement financial models for quantitative and qualitative preparation and reporting purposes for the corporate plan and budget leveraging advanced analytics and AI-driven tools where appropriate.

  • Prepare forecasts, simulations, and analyses of financial results to support BDC's strategic planning process, including the use of AI-enabled methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Coordinate the budget process for the business unit for which you are responsible for and provides senior management with comprehensive analysis for the preparation and audit of the budget.

  • Act as a business partner by engaging with stakeholders to provide financial planning, analysis and forecasting assistance to the business unit leaders for which he/she is responsible.

  • Prepare comprehensive monthly value-added analyses, based on models, productivity level and other criteria, and present the results to management.

  • Develop and elevate presentations for the executive leadership and the Board of Directors

  • Determine and develop internal database requirements for the various models created and ensure data maintenance and integrity.

  • Develop ways to derive timely information from all available databases, including leveraging automation and AI tools to improve data extraction and analysis. Keeps abreast of available data sources, system definitions and best practices, and makes recommendations for improvement.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting;

  • CPA accountant designation or CFA designation, a major asset

  • Five to eight years of experience, including three to five years of FP&A experience

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry is a major asset

  • Knowledge of the Workday Adaptive Planning application is a major asset

  • Strong financial and analytical skills;

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills

  • Experience or strong interest in leveraging AI and advanced analytics tools to enhance financial modeling, financial analysis, insights generation, and decision support

  • Good ability to learn and challenge policies and procedures

  • High ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle ambiguous situations and quickly understand new concepts

  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external clients

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in both official languages (English and French)
