GENERAL FUNCTION:

This role will be required to cover a broad area of responsibilities within Securities Services in one of the following areas: settlements, mutual fund settlements, outside trade support or corporate actions.  Expected to perform activities inclusive of trade support, clearance/settlement/investigations, and confirmations with direct supervision.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handles securities processing tasks including independently processing transactions of extremely high dollar amounts.

  • Verifies trade settlement information at depository and in proprietary system.

  • May be required to execute new trades/instructions in various markets.

  • Processes cash movement in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with prescribed deadlines and department procedures.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and timeliness in work and evidenced through audits by senior securities analyst and/or department manager.

  • Researches and resolves questions and inquiries presented by internal and external parties and communicates resolution in a timely manner. Often serves as the first line contact for issues received from administrators, custody reps and investment staff.

  • Contacts counter party, including internal and external parties to follow-up on outstanding settlement issues, report and research fail activity and communicates settlement issues with administration, vendors, depositories and other interested parties in accordance to established customer service guidelines.

  • Promotes teamwork and participate in the cross training of team members.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of operations experience in securities clearance industry preferred.

  • Basic understanding of investments.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate on behalf of the Bank to both internal and external clients.

  • Demonstrated professional customer service skills with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Strong mathematical and organizational skills.

  • Display excellent intuitive judgment, systematic approach to problem solving and effective problem resolution skills.

  • Ability to work in stressful environment and meet deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal/relationship skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to recognize potential problems and formulate solutions in a timely manner.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, etc. as well as a demonstrated aptitude for learning other business-specific software programs.
