Job Description

Part of the Sales team, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to learn the ins and outs of the scrap metal industry, develop strong customer relationships, and grow into a more senior role over time.

You’ll receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced team members while gradually taking on more responsibility. The role involves both office-based and field activities, with a strong focus on learning, collaboration, and customer service.

The Sales Representative will work in collaboration with the team of account managers and will be responsible for the purchase of scrap metal products on a dedicated scope.

He will also be required to develop and maintain outstanding business relationships with new and existing customers.

This position requires a dynamic and enterprising individual who is able to work closely with all staff and departments of the company, as well as with customers and suppliers.

What you’re responsible for:

  • Assist and then Purchase scrap metal to support tonnage and profitability targets;
  • Visit dealers and industrial suppliers, by phone or in person, to promote new and repeat business, offer pricing, provide customer service, answer questions, handle complaints, and build relationships;
  • Support prospecting efforts to identify new customers and opportunities;
  • Develop new contact networks for market insights and pricing trends;
  • Shadow senior team members to gradually take on negotiation tasks;
  • Support profit and loss analysis with training and supervision;
  • Develop knowledge and gain triage operations knowledge to understand and develop pricing strategies;
  • Coordinate with administrative staff and the sales team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchase transactions;
  • Contribute to pricing recommendations for AIM-operated yards;
  • Assist on special projects according to the attributions;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have a College Diploma in Commerce; sales or marketing or equivalent experience;
  • You have 0-3 years or more of experience (experience in recycling, metals, or industrial sales is a plus);
  • You have a valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • You have strong communication and customer service skills;
  • You are familiar with CRM (an asset);
  • You have excellent math, problem-solving and negotiation skills;
  • You have the ability to travel throughout the territory;
  • You are bilingual (French/English) considered an asset for the QC region;
  • You are team-oriented, curious and eager to grow professionally
  • You have strong results analysis skills;
  • You have the ability to manage priorities and stay organized in a fast pace environment;
