The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery through to final closure and ensures approval of deliverables. They contribute to resource management in order to achieve objectives within defined time and budget constraints.

The role involves organizing, directing, and controlling the human, material, financial, and technological resources required to deliver large-scale, cross-functional projects. The Project Manager is responsible for the project plan and acts as the central point of contact for all contributors involved in delivery (sponsor, managers, and team members), leveraging strong planning and coordination skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for developing a comprehensive project plan, taking into account issues, complexity, stakeholders, and alignment with other projects, while ensuring consistency with the sponsor’s business objectives
  • In collaboration with various workstream leads, be responsible for deliverables to meet business objectives and value creation, while respecting agreements, costs, and timelines
  • Provide functional supervision and coordination of internal and external contributors (system integrators or others) involved in project delivery
  • Approve changes related to resources and ensure quality control, governance compliance, and adherence to methodologies applied to the project
  • Develop risk analysis, assess impacts, and define strategies to manage project risk levels
  • Be accountable for reporting and project status updates to the sponsor, steering committee, and other decision-making bodies

Requirements

REQUIRED

  • 10 years of experience in large-scale project management AND full coverage: complex, cross-functional projects with formal governance
  • Experience managing external vendors AND full involvement in coordinating integrators or external providers
  • Experience in the banking or financial sector (Desjardins or comparable institution)
  • Certification PMP, MGP, or ACP

DESIRED

  • Knowledge of capital markets or institutional treasury
  • Experience in projects impacting business products and services (corporate clients / B2B solutions)

ASSETS

  • Previous project experience within Desjardins Group, including knowledge of internal governance
  • Understanding of treasury activities within a large financial organization

 

What we don’t want

  • IT Project Manager without financial/banking experience
  • Profile with less than 10 years of project management experience, even with certifications
  • Candidates without experience managing external vendors or integrators
  • Candidates without active PMP / MGP / ACP certification
  • Profiles focused only on operations or technical delivery without strategic leadership or reporting to steering committees
