What you'll do

The Product Development (Home & Style) team’s mandate is to help build the equity of CTR’s Retail Brands by improving the design and experience associated with our owned brand offerings. The Product Developer’s role is to support the Product Development Manager in bringing products to market, which deliver a consistent, authentic, and customer-driven product experience through our retail brands.

  • Product Development Support: Assist the team in the development of Christmas products year-round, supporting throughout all development stages.

  • Operational Assistance: Aid the product development team with core tasks, including maintaining the product lifecycle through the PLM system, from initial setup to updates throughout the development process.

  • Sample Management: Oversee receipt, tracking, and management of product and packaging samples. Coordinate shipments to vendors, cross-functional teams, and third-party suppliers; manage sample clean-up as needed.

  • Research and Trend Analysis: Collect business and industry data, participate in assortment analysis, and conduct trend and product research.

  • Template and Tracker Maintenance: Maintain product development templates and trackers across all categories, including product lineboards, sample/development Excel trackers, quality control tracking, tech-pack templates, milestone documents, etc.

  • Design Support: Provide assistance with product specifications, CAD/design (e.g., 3-D renderings), design boards, spec packages, tech packs, recolors, etc., as needed.

  • Collaboration on Marketing Initiatives: Collaborate on photoshoot direction, packaging execution, marketing materials, and other promotional activities. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent brand representation across all customer-facing platforms.

  • Team Initiative: Actively support and promote the initiatives of the Product Development team.

What you bring

• Requirement: Passionate about home décor and the holidays. Strong knowledge of retail and relevant brands is an asset.

• Experience: 1-3 years in a related design field.

• Education: Completion of a College or University program in a Design Discipline, with a background in Product, Fashion, Home/Interiors, or Industrial Design.

• Portfolio: A design portfolio is required (please include a link with your resume).

• Skills: Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, 3-D rendering programs, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Attributes: Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

• Collaboration: Ability to work both collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and independently as needed.

• Location: Don Mills & Eglinton Avenue, in-person Monday to Thursday. Occasional travel to Yonge & Eglinton.
