Position Description
We are looking for a motivated person with a strong background in platform and system integration for Data Engineering in a world class enterprise environment based on Linux and Windows. With our customer base rapidly growing and Data driving more and more business processes, we are expanding our Enterprise Data Engineering team. The team is fast paced, dynamic, and results oriented. We handle all engineering activities across the company for products such as Informatica, SAP PowerDesigner, IDERA(Embarcadero) DBArtisan, RapidSQL and some other Database Development tools, Tableau and Analytics software like SAS, IBM SPSS etc. Our team is responsible for Data in Motion product like Informatica Big Data Management, MQ Series messaging and Hadoop. We integrate and run these products for a scale, throughput and availability appropriate to a large multi-national financial services firm with multiple datacenters across the world. We work closely with a development team that develops custom tooling to scale out our solutions across the enterprise. Within the team?s responsibility are tools written in Scala, Java, C#, Python and PERL. In addition, we maintain an in-house data warehouse and a custom web analytics suite. We evaluate emerging products in the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics space. We encourage team members to mix things up and choose a variety of different projects to work on over time. The ideal candidate will have a very strong technical foundation as well as a strategic mindset, good communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with others.
The core responsibilities of this role include:
-The candidate must demonstrate strong technical qualities in a global enterprise setting;
- Engineer/roll-out/administer/sustain/upgrade our installations of SAP PowerDesigner, Embarcadero products and database drivers for various platforms;
- Ensure products meet the necessary security, supportability, and performance requirements;- Investigate & troubleshoot root cause
- Participate in support rotation and occasional weekend work;
- Create, review, maintain and update documentation;
- Work with our users to understand their needs and define how our products and infrastructure will meet those needs;
- Disseminate knowledge among colleagues; - Participate in design and implementation activities with members of the team;
- Research and assess new technologies, vendor and open source products.
- Implement proof-of-concept prototypes.- Active participation with team and must provide constructive feedback to colleagues when necessary.
Skills Required - 10 years of experience in a similar role in a large enterprise. - Proven experience in system and platform integration of in a large enterprise environment.
- Technical understanding of the Linux OS, networking, storage (SAN/NAS) and LDAP.
- Excellent understanding of TCP/IP and troubleshooting application issues on the network (WireShark, etc).
- Understanding of the database clients and various connectivity (native, ODBC/JDBC ) for:oDB2oSybaseoOracleoGreenplumoTeradata.
- Experience with database driver configuration and setup optimization for BI products.
- Windows command-line and PowerShell scripting, good debugging skills.
- Linux shell scripting, PERL and/or Python
.- Installation and packaging of applications
- Ability to write technical and operational documentation (system design and engineering documents, operational run-books).
- Strong communication skills.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Skills Desired:
- Good RDBMS skills. SQL statement optimization.
- Familiarity with Hadoop Ecosystem- Experience with web technologies, troubleshooting them as it relates to the OS and the network.- Informatica suite
