Hiring Unit: McGill University Advancement, Annual Giving, Phonathon
Job Title: Phonathon Caller
Classification: B
Salary: $16.85 per hour. 4% vacation pay and compensation for Legal Holidays will be included on each pay
Duration: June 14 – August 21, 2026
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm, Sunday 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Estimated Number of Hours Per Week: 20

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using established instructions.

Typical Functions:

  • Using established scripts, contacts alumni and parents of McGill students with the aim of securing donations for the McGill Fund and meeting established performance goals.

  • Provides information and answers questions regarding the University’s fundraising and academic initiatives. Some inquiries may require further research into the topic and escalation to the Phonathon Calling Team Lead or Phonathon Manager.

  • Collects and enters donor data and responses into the internal database.

  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent.

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience

  • High School Diploma with one (1) year relevant experience in the field of work.

Other Qualifying Skills:

  • Must be a student currently enrolled at McGill.

  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills (English and/or French).

  • Experience in sales or call center environment.

  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 3 on a scale of 0-4.”

Sommaire du poste :

Relevant du superviseur immédiat, le titulaire du poste effectue certaines (ou la totalité) des tâches administratives de nature générale énumérées. Ces tâches sont d’une complexité modérée et le titulaire du poste les exécute en suivant les instructions établies.

Fonctions types:

  • À l’aide de scénarios établis, communiquer avec les anciens étudiants et les parents d’étudiants de l’Université dans le but d’obtenir des dons pour le Fonds McGill et d’atteindre les objectifs de rendement établis.

  • Donner de l’information et répondre aux questions concernant les activités de financement et les initiatives universitaires de McGill.

  • Certaines demandes de renseignements peuvent nécessiter des recherches plus poussées sur le sujet et être transmises au chef d’équipe, Téléphonistes appelants, (Phonathon) ou au gestionnaire de ce dernier.

  • Recueillir et saisir les données et les réponses des donateurs dans la base de données interne.

  • Les tâches énumérées ci-dessus sont représentatives, mais ne constituent pas une liste complète et détaillée des tâches qui pourraient être exécutées par le titulaire du poste.

Formation et expérience minimales requises :

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires. Un (1) an d’expérience connexe.

Autres compétences et/ou aptitudes:

  • Doit être inscrit en tant qu'étudiant à l’Université McGill.

  • Excellentes compétences en communication (anglais et/ou français).

  • Expérience en vente ou dans un centre d’appel.

  • Connaissance du français et de l'anglais: L'Université McGill est une université de langue anglaise où les tâches quotidiennes peuvent nécessiter une communication verbale et écrite en anglais.  Le niveau d’anglais requis pour ce poste a été déterminé comme étant de niveau # 3 sur une échelle de 0-4.
