About the Role We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing team and support a diverse client base. This role is responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple Canadian provinces. The ideal candidate has strong Canadian payroll knowledge, excellent attention to detail, experience working with payroll/HRIS systems, and the ability to resolve payroll issues in a fast-paced client-service environment. French and English bilingual proficiency is required, along with PCP or PLP certification. Key Responsibilities • Process payroll for a growing client base in accordance with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, and company policies. • Process and review Canadian multi-provincial payroll accurately and on schedule. • Import new-hire data and employee timesheet information into payroll systems. • Review and calculate pay related to new hires, status changes, transfers, promotions, incentives, additional hours, and other adjustments. • Calculate final pay for terminated employees in accordance with applicable provincial requirements. • Prepare off-cycle payrolls and manual checks when required. • Review payroll data for accuracy and perform quality assurance before payroll submission. • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and data issues. • Troubleshoot payroll, HRIS, timekeeping, and employee pay-related issues. • Respond to payroll and HRIS questions from clients, employees, and internal teams. • Enter and maintain new-hire information within the HRIS. • Maintain and update employee information and applicable HRIS modules. • Manage voluntary payroll deductions and other payroll-related adjustments. • Work with time clock and timekeeping systems to ensure accurate payroll inputs. • Generate payroll reports for management, compliance, audits, and client requests. • Collaborate with other departments to investigate issues and develop appropriate resolutions. • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive payroll and employee information. • Perform additional payroll projects and duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • 3–7 years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience preferred. • Demonstrated experience processing Canadian payroll across multiple provinces. • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll processes, taxation, deductions, and applicable provincial requirements. • Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms. • Experience with timekeeping/time clock systems and payroll imports. • PCP or PLP certification required. • Bilingual proficiency in English and French required. • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict payroll deadlines. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work effectively with clients, employees, and cross-functional teams.
