The Manager, Voyage Optimization enhances maritime efficiency and sustainability, optimizing vessel routes and fuel efficiency, while collaborating with Operations.

Reporting to the Head of Fleet Performance, the Manager, Voyage Optimization (VO) will be responsible for enhancing maritime efficiency and sustainability. We are seeking a highly motivated and details-oriented person. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing vessel routes, improving fuel efficiency and ensure optimal scheduling of vessels in close collaboration with the Operations team. This position based in our Montreal office requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communications skills and a solid understanding of maritime operations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify the most time-efficient, fuel-efficient routes using specialized software. Plan voyages in consultation with the needs of Operations.
- Be the primary point of contact for the Weather Routing providers to ensure optimal voyage planning for the Fednav fleet.
- Monitor speed and position deviations for vessels on active routes and promptly take actions to maximize voyage efficiency and notify the Operations Team accordingly.
- Provide detailed feedback to Operations and Chartering Teams, including insights on voyage performance, route adherence and claims evaluation.
- Ensure all voyage plans comply with international maritime regulations and company safety standards.
- Support the Assistant Manager, Fleet Performance to review voyage data, identify trends, suggest areas of improvement and opportunity for cost savings.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Manager, Fleet Performance and Manager, Fleet Productivity to ensure the optimal and efficient operation of the Owned and Long-term Charter fleet.
- Support the Head of Fleet Performance in developing and implementing strategies to enhance vessel performance and fuel efficiency.
WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON
The ideal candidate has:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in voyage optimization, maritime operations or similar role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in voyage optimization software and tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
