About SweetTech

SweetTech builds loan origination, servicing and capital markets software for commercial lenders across North America.

We are a small team based in Montreal, with colleagues across North America. You will work closely with our CTO and experienced developers on software that lenders use every day.

The role

When a client reports that something is broken, you will help fix it. You will speak directly with the client, reproduce the issue, use Claude Code and Codex to investigate and develop a fix, and check that it solves the original problem. You will keep the client informed until the issue is resolved.

You own the issue from the first conversation through follow-up. There is no separate support person between you and the clients reporting bugs. Understanding what happened and communicating clearly are as much a part of the job as working with code.

AI coding tools are part of the daily workflow. You will give them useful context, review the changes they propose, and verify the results yourself. You will have guidance and code review from experienced developers, and you will learn when an issue needs their help.

Bug resolution is your initial focus. As you learn the product and codebase, you will take on small improvements and grow toward building complete features.

What you will do
  • Talk directly with clients to understand what they were trying to do, what happened, and how the issue affects their work.

  • Reproduce reported issues yourself. Capture clear steps, expected and actual behavior, and relevant screenshots or logs.

  • Use Claude Code and Codex to investigate causes, develop fixes, and add tests that catch the problem if it returns.

  • Read and question AI-generated code. Be able to explain what changed and why it addresses the issue.

  • Run automated tests and check the original client scenario in the application. Review test results and recordings before submitting work for review.

  • Keep Jira tickets current, follow fixes through review and release, and tell clients what was resolved and when it is available.

  • Bring unclear product behavior, complex bugs, and urgent issues to the CTO or the appropriate teammate, with the evidence you have gathered.

  • Build product improvements as your understanding and independence grow.

What we are looking for
  • A foundation in software development through a degree, internships, personal projects, or equivalent practical experience. Recent graduates are welcome.

  • You can read, write, and debug code. You can also explain a web application you have built.

  • Familiarity with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, web APIs, Git, and basic SQL. You are willing to learn across the frontend and backend.

  • You enjoy helping clients and can stay patient when a problem is unclear or frustrating.

  • You write clear emails and can explain a technical issue to someone who does not write code.

  • You follow through, communicate progress without being chased, and ask for help when you need it.

  • You are curious about AI coding tools and willing to learn how to use them well. You check their output against the actual problem.

  • You can work in English with our North American clients and team.

Nice to have
  • Experience using Claude Code, Codex, or other AI coding tools on a project.

  • Familiarity with Angular, FastAPI, automated testing, or browser developer tools.

  • Experience helping users troubleshoot software.

  • An interest in fintech, commercial lending, and agricultural lending.

Our stack

The lending platform uses Python and FastAPI, Angular and TypeScript, CockroachDB, and Redis. We use automated tests, including BrowserStack, to check changes. You do not need experience with every tool before joining; we will teach you our workflow.

Details
  • Location: Montreal, QC. Hybrid, with approximately three days per week in the office.

  • Schedule: Full-time.

  • Start date: To be agreed.

  • Compensation: CA$80,000 to CA$90,000 per year.

SweetTech is an equal-opportunity employer. We welcome applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds.
