Description

The Training Systems Integrated Solution Leader (ISL) (Submarine) is part of a specialized team responsible for designing integrated training and simulation solutions that support defense organizations globally. This role leads the early-stage development of submarine training solutions, supporting opportunities from business development and capture through product development and program delivery.

Working closely with customers, product management, engineering, learning specialists, program teams, industry partners, and suppliers, this role develops operationally effective, scalable, and commercially viable training solutions aligned with customer requirements and organizational strategy.

This position supports the Naval Line of Business by helping identify market requirements, emerging trends, customer needs, and global growth opportunities related to submarine and naval training programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of integrated submarine training solutions that support customer success and business growth.

  • Support naval business development activities, including global opportunity identification, market analysis, and solution strategy development.

  • Conduct operational and training needs analyses during business capture and pre-contract phases.

  • Develop evidence-based training solution recommendations using evolving or incomplete customer requirements.

  • Design modular, scalable, and reusable training solutions aligned with organizational product strategies.

  • Evaluate alternative solution approaches using operational effectiveness, affordability, technical risk, delivery confidence, and business objectives.

  • Promote product-based thinking through standardization, modularity, configurable architectures, and product reuse.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, learning specialists, program management, finance, human resources, industrial relations, information technology, hardware, software, suppliers, and OEM partners.

  • Facilitate multidisciplinary workshops to support customer decision-making and solution development.

  • Present solution concepts, recommendations, and strategies to customers, senior leaders, and stakeholders.

  • Support make-buy-partner decisions aligned with business objectives and customer requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve competitiveness, increase standardization, and maximize product reuse across programs.

  • Promote innovation through the practical application of emerging technologies where measurable customer value can be achieved.

  • Contribute to the development of a market-leading submarine training and simulation portfolio.

  • Support customer engagement activities, demonstrations, workshops, and program execution globally.

  • Work collaboratively with technical teams while supporting integrated solution leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle.

  • Contribute to organizational learning, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the Integrated Solution Leader community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of related experience in industry and/or military service.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience focused on the development and/or delivery of training programs within operational or maintenance environments in the defense sector.

  • Relevant post-secondary education, diploma, degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience developing integrated training, simulation, engineering, defense, or complex operational solutions.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary or matrix teams in complex environments.

  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills with the ability to develop solutions from evolving requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize operational, technical, commercial, and training information into integrated solutions.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to facilitate workshops and influence decision-making across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Experience working in highly regulated, complex, high-risk, or mission-critical environments.

  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to approximately 20% of the time.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Canadian and/or NATO Secret Security Clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Canadian Armed Forces experience.

  • Naval or submarine operational experience.

  • Military experience with NATO or allied defense organizations.

  • Experience supporting naval, submarine, maritime, simulation, or military training programs.

  • Experience working with OEMs, strategic partners, suppliers, and defense industry stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of training systems integration, simulation technologies, and training development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation systems.

  • Experience supporting business capture, strategic pursuits, proposal development, or defense acquisition programs.

  • Experience in large-scale defense, engineering, or training programs.

  • Bilingualism (English and French).

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing junior professionals.
