About You

We are seeking an experienced HR Professional to join our team of HR Business Partners. This person will support our Technology team and be a key HR contact for employees and leaders in Canada and some US locations. The ideal candidate has sharp HR instincts and is capable of coaching and supporting leaders at all levels (from manager to SVP), while having a proven track record of turning HR strategies into deliverables. 

As the HR Business Partner for Engineering, you'll work closely with the leaders to identify the HR priorities and develop HR recommendations that support business objectives. You will also develop a deep understanding for the Engineering team cultures, which will allow you to advocate for your division's objectives and realities in the design of corporate HR programs, and to provide relevant context to your peers in the identification of company-wide HR priorities.

What you’ll do and how you’ll have an impact

  • Coach and support your leaders on the full spectrum of HR services, based on their needs.
  • Partner with the recruitment team to provide insight on current and upcoming needs. 
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition Lead and the engineering leadership to identify recruiting priorities.
  • Provide support in developing hiring plans throughout the strategic headcount planning process
  • Guide leaders through change, including development of organizational structures.
  • Review and analyze key HR metrics and make recommendations to boost engagement;
  • Collaborate with Compensation experts to provide compensation recommendations for employment offers to candidates, internal promotions, and recognition bonuses. Act as the gatekeeper of internal equity
  • Advise leaders on talent development, promotions and employee growth. Build development plans, career paths and retention strategies for high performers.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of varied hands-on HR experience in a Business Partner role.
  • Ability to understand and partner with different HR services (Learning & Development, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations).
  • Experience handling a variety of HR problems (Performance management, managing turnover, restructuring, labor relations, onboarding, etc.)
  • Experience managing a fast paced and fast-changing organization and providing HR guidance ;
  • Proven track record of implementing engagement, wellness or other strategies to boost employee morale;
  • Ability to coach leaders at all levels in an organization with ease.
  • Natural relationship-building competencies.
  • Optimism and desire to constantly improve by acting as an agent of change
  • Knowledge of employment law in Canada 
  • Knowledge of employment law in the US and/or Europe is a plus
