The Hydro Power PMO Manager is responsible for governing and overseeing hydro power project execution activities across the Business Line, supporting Local Business Lines in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. The role improves portfolio performance, execution excellence, and continuous improvement, while acting as a key escalation point for complex project and customer matters in a global, matrix organization.

Applications are welcome from all locations; however, the role requires working in a hybrid model from a hosting ABB office close to the candidate.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and consistently improve the project execution strategy across regional and local Hydro Project Operations
  • Govern the hydro project portfolio, ensuring consistent application of best practices and early identification of risks and underperforming projects
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, HSE requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations
  • Support sales and operations planning, including early involvement in execution strategy for major or complex projects
  • Perform and participate in project reviews, risk reviews, and portfolio governance forums
  • Act as escalation point for critical execution issues and customer-facing challenges
  • Coordinate and support project recovery initiatives for troubled or deteriorating projects
  • Develop project execution capability through standardization, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
  • Extensive experience in project execution within hydro power, energy, or complex industrial infrastructure projects
  • Skilled in portfolio management, project governance, and oversight of project execution
  • Extensive knowledge of project finance, cost control, risk management, and contract & claims management
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and succeed in matrix and indirect reporting structures
  • Experience in facilitating continuous improvement and organizational transformation initiatives
  • Proficient stakeholder management and communication skills across senior internal and external interfaces
  • Solid understanding of HSE, regulatory, and quality requirements in project execution environments
  • University degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a comparable technical discipline
Travel Requirement
  • Average travel of approximately 20–30%, including possible semi-long international travel, depending on project and business need
