Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Delivery and Operations, this position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring Cogeco’s people strategy delivers measurable business value by overseeing Employee Relations (ER), Investigations, Compliance, and Performance Management for both our Canadian and U.S. based businesses. The Employee Relations Manager leads a team of HR Delivery Partners to deliver operational excellence, accelerate performance and organizational health, and prepare the workforce for the future. 

What You Will be Doing:

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Oversee Employee Relations (ER) case management and investigations, ensuring timely and compliant resolutions across both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in HR policies and tools to provide seamless, high-quality service.

  • Directly manage high-stakes or sensitive ER issues, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state/federal employment laws, recommending updates to company policies and procedures accordingly.

Driving Organizational Health

  • Lead the oversight of performance management processes, ensuring clarity, fairness, and business impact.

  • Use data-driven insights to identify ER trends and root causes, providing proactive recommendations to boost engagement and mitigate risk.

  • Collaborate with Operations and union partners on workforce transformation, including reskilling for emerging technologies like AI.

Looking to the Horizon

  • Partner with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to identify future skill gaps and develop career pathways for evolving business needs.

  • Explore innovative, AI-driven solutions to enhance HR delivery and organizational effectiveness.

Team Leadership

  • Coach and develop a high-performing team of HR Delivery Partners, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specifically managing ER or HR Delivery teams

  • In-depth understanding of employment legislation and ER best practices in both Canada and the United States.

  • Experience within a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.

  • Proven ability to balance organizational risk with the "human impact" and translate HR data into actionable business insights.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and coaching skills.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high accuracy.

  • High level of integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while managing highly sensitive workplace issues and investigations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French (required for collaboration with stakeholders in Ontario, Quebec, and the U.S.).
