As the Manager of Employee Relations you will provide leadership, direction and consultative support to ensure the effective management of employee relations functions across the organization. You will support the execution and implementation of strategic Human Resources (HR) programs, tactics and strategic projects to ensure organizational and HR objectives are met. You will ensure workplace practices are maintained at the highest level of integrity and professionalism including upholding the ethics, values and brand of the organization.
How you will create impact:- Leading a team of HR professionals in providing best practices and developing strategies in response to employee relations matters as they arise.
- Accountable for the Labour Relations and Employee relations function, ensuring alignment with organizational practices and objectives.
- Provide expert consultative support to leadership on interpreting relevant policies, Collective Agreements, legislation, and other terms and conditions of employment, ensuring all obligations under legislation, Collective Agreements, and policies are met.
- Supporting management development through conducting debriefs, collaborating and providing guidance on complex employee relations matters including performance management, development planning, employee engagement, health and safety and conflict resolution.
- Overseeing and fostering team partnerships with HR stakeholders to ensure the effective execution, integration and application of strategic HR programs, initiatives and policies across the organization.
- Creating department operational plans to identify priorities and scope of activities for the team, ensuring plans align with organizational objectives, allocating resources and identifying efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coaching and developing your team, recruiting and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives.
- You build trusting relationships and provide feedback to enable the successful development of your team and colleagues.
- You foster innovation and continuous improvement with a focus on client experience.
- You facilitate the adoption of change and create a high-performance culture through alignment of your team’s work with organizational goals.
- You successfully convey messages and demonstrate openness to exploring alternative points of view.
- You use critical thinking to guide decision making.
- You have 5 years of progressive experience in Labour Relations and Employee Relations.
- You have a post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline.
- You have the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or a related HR designation in addition to the following certifications: Prosci, Employment Standards, Workplace Investigations and Mental Health.
- You have expert knowledge in the application of workplace investigation requirements, tools and analysis and in-depth knowledge of relevant HR legislation across multiple Canadian jurisdictions including Employment Standards and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Proficiency in English is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups, teams. Drafting complex English documents and preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
- You will travel occasionally.
- You are required to have your own vehicle, valid driver’s license and insurance.

Expected salary range $91,058 to $141,058 +
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
