POSITION OVERVIEW


BDC Capital is the investment arm of BDC that acts as a strategic partner to Canada's most innovative and high potential companies.


The Director, Growth & Transition Capital is a key player in the financing of growth projects, acquisitions, and business transfers.  You will use your talent and creativity to make a real impact on the success of Canadian entrepreneurs.  You will leverage your strong relationship skills and network of contacts to identify opportunities that will accelerate Canadian entrepreneurs’ growth and develop business opportunities, both in financing and consulting.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET


Here's what the challenges of a typical week look like:

  • Connect and collaborate with key business stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Seek business opportunities through rigorous business development
  • Analyze and evaluate financing and investment opportunities to propose complex and innovative financing structures
  • Participate in the due diligence process and the underwriting of loans that meet BDC Capital's investment criteria
  • Act as an advisor, making proactively recommendations to the management staff of investee companies and to entrepreneurs
  • Develop and implement portfolio risk management strategies
  • Meticulously monitor investments and manage portfolio risk
  • Take responsibility for the individual planning process by creating and implementing an individual marketing and development plan
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends on the market

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


The ideal Candidate must be a team player, have an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for helping companies succeed as well as a sharp critical and analytical sense. With outstanding dynamism and a strong customer approach, the candidate will be able to build strong relationships and maintain their network.


If you can answer YES to the following questions, you may be just the person we are looking for:

  • Do you have a bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field, and even better, a professional designation?
  • Do you have more than 5 years of experience in financing?
  • Do you have a strong interest or experience in the investment sector?
  • Do you have strong analytical, risk assessment and financial forecasting skills?
  • You have experience in mergers and acquisitions and a desire to be part of business development and develop a network?
  • Do you have good judgment when it comes to financing, credit, and investment?
  • Are you able to build trust with and good business relationships with your customers? Do they remember you because of your good advice and your ability to collaborate?
  • Do you have strong negotiation skills and are results-oriented?
  • Are you comfortable in English and French both in writing and orally? (An asset for English)
