What You’ll Be Doing
You will report to the Senior Director, Credit Adjudication and will be tasked to provide effective leadership, innovative products, competitive rates and unique programs for the brand and sales channels supported in a prompt and reliable manner. Through effective leadership you will direct all aspects of performance for the Regional Approval Center team comprising of approximately 20-80 employees depending on the brand and sales channels supported. The originations team is responsible for all aspects of manual underwriting and related support for the lending products under the responsibility of CIBC Mortgages and Lending including; discharges, title transfers, ETO and increase/blends.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
- Quality Assurance - Ensure aggregate and individual unit objectives surrounding the quantity, quality, cost, and timeliness of originations activities are within expected levels of performance. Ensure consistency of underwriting, funding, and support activities and control of error rates.
- Governance and Compliance - Management and governance of originations compliance, regulatory and operational risk processes and controls within the Regional Approval Centers. Ensure compliance in aggregate, at the unit level, and at an individual level with all CIBC regulatory training and ensure these programs and policies are adhered to consistently across all units.
- Provide leadership - Effective management of business unit staff to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their job by setting appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals.

Partnership and Collaboration - Work with partners within Credit Adjudication and external Key Stakeholders within the end to end RESL product family in achieving the goal in reaching our organization key results
Who You Are
- You will demonstrate experience with extensive residential mortgage underwriting experience, preferably in the residential underwriting and broker markets. And have exercised an approval authority at a senior level in a high volume environment with people leadership experience.
- You have a degree/diploma at undergraduate level from an accredited school
