Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Channel Partnerships to lead the global growth of the Alpaca Connect Marketplace, a core pillar of Alpaca’s ecosystem strategy.

This individual will operate at the intersection of business development, product strategy, and technical integration, establishing Alpaca as the go-to marketplace for embedded investing and trading infrastructure, rivalling competitor platforms.

You will own both the commercial strategy and the product partner journey: from API integration and OAuth experience to co-marketing and monetization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Marketplace & Product Strategy
  • Define the product roadmap for Alpaca Connect in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Operations and Developer Experience teams.
  • Champion a partner-first architecture: streamlined OAuth flows, unified onboarding, sandbox environments, and API documentation.
  • Benchmark against competitors to build the most frictionless integration experience in the market.
  • Develop standardized partner SDKs, templates, and technical onboarding documentation.
  1. Partner Acquisition & Ecosystem Building
  • Source and close partnerships with fintechs, trading tools, analytics providers, and wealth platforms.
  • Build a curated ecosystem across categories such as portfolio analytics, research, tax optimization, compliance, KYC, payments, and automation tools.
  • Drive co-development initiatives—helping partners build new use cases leveraging Alpaca’s APIs (Broker API, Trading API, OAuth, and account funding).
  1. Technical Partnership Enablement
  • Translate business opportunities into product integration requirements, working directly with partner CTOs, product leads, and engineers.
  • Lead technical workshops, solution design sessions, and API architecture reviews.
  • Ensure partner integrations meet Alpaca’s standards for scalability, data security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Developer Relations to improve partner tooling, SDKs, and marketplace discoverability.
  1. Commercial Growth & GTM
  • Design tiered monetization models (rev share, referral, usage-based pricing) for marketplace partnerships.
  • Develop launch playbooks, partner certification programs, and co-marketing campaigns.
  • Track KPIs such as number of active integrations, API call volume, partner-sourced accounts, and transaction growth.
  1. Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Marketing, Compliance, and Customer Success to deliver an end-to-end partner experience.
  • Advocate internally for partner-driven feature requests that unlock new integration categories.
  • Represent Alpaca at industry events, conferences, and developer summits to grow brand recognition.

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of experience in partnerships, platform ecosystems, or product management within fintech, trading, SaaS, or API-driven companies.
  • Strong technical acumen: ability to understand REST APIs, OAuth 2.0 flows, webhooks, data schemas, and developer onboarding processes.
  • Proven experience driving channel or marketplace growth—ideally building or scaling an integration marketplace or API platform.
  • Deep understanding of brokerage, custody, trading infrastructure, or financial data systems.
  • Ability to interface confidently with engineers, product teams, and C-level executives.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with experience building dashboards and tracking GTM impact (HubSpot, Salesforce, Looker, etc.).
How We Take Care of You:
  • Competitive Salary & Stock Options
  • Health Benefits
  • New Hire Home-Office Setup: One-time USD $500
  • Monthly Stipend: USD $150 per month via a Brex Card

Alpaca is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.
