Your Role


If you are passionate about sharing top sports highlights and breaking news on social media while simultaneously keeping pace with a wide range of live competitions, the Digital Editor position at Radio-Canada Sports is the perfect fit for you!


This role requires a variable work schedule (including evenings and weekends) dictated by the live sporting events you will cover throughout the year. If you are looking for a dynamic entry point into the world of sports journalism, communications and marketing, this job is an excellent stepping stone.


Key Tasks:

  • Keep up with news stories and breaking information relevant to your assigned sports beat.
  • Attend story meetings to pitch fresh ideas and provide editorial input.
  • Research, gather, select and vet information from a variety of reliable sources.
  • Select topics (reports, interviews, documentaries, etc.) for online publication. Adapt, summarize and supplement content as required, and determine its layout and sequencing.
  • Review and select audio, video and visual elements. Format media for optimal digital delivery, source stock imagery and take still photos as needed.
  • Draft engaging descriptive, informational and promotional copy tailored to specific platforms. Assist in developing and writing copy for interactive content, such as games and quizzes, and publish it online.
  • Produce original articles: Suggest unique story angles, identify interviewees, and conduct and record interviews for digital publication.
  • Update the content of the site or section.
  • Research, select and embed hyperlinks.
  • Proofread and edit your own copy and assist colleagues with theirs as needed.
  • Help organize, moderate and participate in interactive digital events (live panels, chats and discussion forums).
  • Respond to audience inquiries and forward programming-specific feedback to the appropriate team members.
  • Monitor the progress of ongoing digital and web projects as required.
  • Carry out all other related tasks as required.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.


Your profile:


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience.

Skills:

  • Broad general knowledge.
  • High level of creativity.
  • Good knowledge of the sports scene.
  • Excellent command of French (working language).
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken, written and reading English is an asset.
  • Strong digital and social media storytelling skills.
  • Ability to curate items for online publication, and adapt, summarize and supplement them as needed.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Leadership.
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Selected candidates will be tested as follows:

  • Theorical test (sports) related to the position.
  • Interview.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
