We’re hiring Developers to join our growing AI team, with opportunities to work on AI for Security (securing agentic workflows and AI-driven features) or Security for AI (ensuring AI systems themselves are built securely). This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and world-class security, shaping how 1Password sets the standard for secure AI adoption across millions of users.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

• 2+ years of experience in software development

• Strong foundation in software development best practices and coding standards

• Interest or experience in security fundamentals and the intersection of AI, with a strong willingness to quickly learn and apply new technologies

• Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex problems with effective, scalable solutions

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to cross-functional partners

• Passion for testing methodologies, debugging, and ensuring high-quality code

Bonus points for:

• Experience with languages like Go, Rust, Kotlin, Swift, JavaScript, or similar — or the ability to learn new languages quickly

• Familiarity with LLM frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, etc.)

• Knowledge of identity/security platforms (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, Ping Identity)

• Experience deploying or securing cloud-based AI infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  

What you can expect:

• Code, test, debug, and deliver production software systems for AI-driven and security-focused product features

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, security, infrastructure, AI/ML) throughout the development cycle to ensure smooth releases

• Communicate technical requirements and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders

• Participate in planning: breaking down work, estimating effort, and contributing to project planning

• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and resilience of AI and security systems

• Review code from teammates, maintaining quality while fostering a culture of open feedback

• Document code and processes to ensure long-term scalability and maintainability

• Stay informed on the latest trends in AI and security, proactively sharing knowledge with the team

• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure continuous support of production systems

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $123,000 USD and $167,000 USD plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $111,000 CAD and $150,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

While we are a remote-first company, travel for in-person engagement is a part of almost all roles, and we require our employees to be ready and willing to take part.
