Job Description:

Data Scientist II, Data Science, RESL Analytics

Department Overview:

The AI2 (Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence) RESL (Real Estate Secured Lending) team supports the day-to-day activities of the RESL team by supporting our partners with

data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. This means this role will require you to work closely with our RESL partners and provide end-to-end support for data, reporting analytics, insights and artificial intelligence solutions. You will be a part of a team that will drive change for the RESL business by providing insights, identifying opportunities and collaborating to better serve our customers.

Job Description/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of business context and data infrastructure and can translate business problems to viable data science solutions.
  • Use a wide range of programing languages (e.g. Python, Pyspark, SQL, SAS) and techniques for extracting and preparing data, applying statistics and various advanced analytics, along with business acumen to extract insights from the big data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional data and business teams to define problems, analyze impacts, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that improve decision-making and efficiency.
  • Translate business challenges into data-driven problems and design appropriate solutions, including metrics and analytics, business intelligence.
  • Visualize insights from the data to tell and illustrate stories that clearly convey the meaning of results to decision-makers and stakeholders at every level of technical understanding.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders—including data scientists, business partners, and technical teams—to ensure seamless progress and deliver business objectives.
  • Develop relationships with the RESL stakeholders, help socialize analytical insights, to collaboratively validate data and to develop a cohesive story of trends observed through analysis.
  • Presentation & Storytelling: Develop and maintain analysis reports/dashboards/presentations and communicate insights effectively to multiple business partners; technical or non-technical – verbally/written
  • Stay current on emerging developments in experimentation methodologies, continuously expanding knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques
  • Support existing processes or support new processes for the RESL teams primarily recurring activities that support business needs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and close gaps in understanding of the RESL customer lifecycle.

Job Requirements – What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+years of experience performing advanced analytics or data science and/or consulting, ideally in an influencing or advisory capacity.
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, existing projects, new requests, resource constraints and competing priorities.

Technical Skills

  • Coding: Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) and SQL (writing complex queries, stored procedures, data extraction).
  • Data Visualization: Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau reporting.
  • Experience in enhancing data collection procedures, data processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Ability to extrapolate insights from large amounts of data and develop actionable recommendations.
