As a Data Science Intern, you'll assess new variables for forecasting accuracy, validate workflows, and collaborate with the data scientist to enhance the forecasting pipeline.
WPred is a weather intelligence platform serving renewable energy operators across North America and Europe — from day-ahead energy forecasts to multi-week maintenance planning. Our forecasts run on live production systems trusted by operators managing thousands of megawatts of renewable capacity. We're a small, technical team moving fast, and we want interns who want to actually build things.
You'll work directly with our data scientist on the core forecasting platform — evaluating new data sources, running quality checks, and contributing findings that directly influence forecast accuracy for clients across two continents. You'll touch real pipelines and see your work reflected in the product.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate new variables that could improve forecast accuracy, reanalysis datasets, observational feeds and make the case for adopting them.
- Compare external data against our internal data to surface gaps and opportunities
- Run validation workflows that feed directly into model improvement cycles.
- Collaborate with the data scientist to translate findings into actionable changes in the forecasting pipeline.
- Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or related field
- Comfortable in Python; SQL is a major plus
- Curious about weather, energy, or geospatial data

Ce que tu feras
- Évaluer de nouvelles variables susceptibles d’améliorer la précision des prévisions, notamment des ensemble de données de réanalyse et des flux de données d’observation, et formuler des recommandations quant à leur adoption
- Comparer des données externes avec nos données internes afin d’identifier les écarts et les opportunités
- Exécuter des processus de validation qui alimentent directement les cycles d’amélioration des modèles
- Collaborer avec le data scientist pour transformer les résultats en changements concrets dans le pipeline de prévision
- Tu poursuis un diplôme en science des données, statistique, informatique, mathématiques appliquées ou dans un domaine connexe
- Tu es à l’aise avec Python; SQL est un atout important
- Tu es curieux(se) à propos de la météo, de l’énergie ou des données géospatiales
- Tu poses de bonnes questions et n’attends pas qu’on te dise quoi faire ensuite
