What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a dynamic team in one of Canada's largest Global Asset Management (GAM) firms within the Canadian wealth industry. We are looking for energetic, sales savvy and client service-oriented individuals to join our team. In your role as a Business Development Manager, you will work with a Director, Regional Sales within a defined territory to increase market share of CIBC Global Asset Management with existing clients while incrementally developing new business relationships by prospecting. Your primary sales activity will be over the telephone and, when required, meet the client face to face as determined by events and activities within the region. You will be instrumental in driving sales growth by partnering with external wholesaler(s) to promote our investment solutions to financial advisors and investment advisors. Your role involves proactive outreach, relationship management, and providing exceptional support to our distribution partners.

How you’ll succeed

  • Business Development - Prospect for new business with Advisors in your territory over the telephone through contacts and regular follow-ups.

  • Product Knowledge - Ensure full knowledge of most CAM current product and market trends including product/portfolio features, benefits, and investment strategies; Periodically deliver product information and business development tools with Advisors at client meetings.

  • Relationship Building - Strengthen existing business relationships to consistently meet sales target.

  • Sales Enablement - Collaborate with external wholesalers to develop and execute strategic sales plans aimed at increasing market share within assigned territories.

  • Client Engagement - Conduct proactive outreach to financial advisors, providing product information, addressing inquiries, and identifying opportunities to deepen relationships.

  • Product Expertise - Maintain in-depth knowledge of CGAM’s investment products, market trends, and competitive landscape to effectively position solutions to clients.

  • CRM Management - Utilize CRM systems to track interactions, manage pipelines, and ensure data integrity for reporting and analysis purposes.

  • Marketing Collaboration - Work closely with the marketing team to develop and distribute sales materials, campaign initiatives, and educational content tailored to client needs. Collaborate on the creation and dissemination of marketing materials and campaigns.

  • Training & Development - Participate in ongoing training programs to stay current with industry developments and enhance professional skills.

  • External Wholesalers - Coordinate closely to align sales strategies, share market insights, and ensure cohesive client outreach.

  • Product Management - Provide feedback on product performance and client needs to inform product development and enhancements.

  • Compliance & Legal - Ensure all communications and activities adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies.

  • Territory Management - Support a defined geographic region, collaborating with external wholesalers to achieve sales targets and expand client relationships.

  • Performance Metrics - Measured by sales growth, client engagement levels, and the successful execution of sales initiatives.

  • Client Segmentation - Engage with a diverse client base, including financial advisors and investment advisors.

  • Product Range - Promote a suite of investment products, including mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs and alternative investment solutions.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in telephone sales within the mutual fund/wealth management industry (an asset) You are knowledgeable and have an interest of current trends in the broker/dealer industry, bond and capital markets. You have a minimum of 5 years in financial services, preferably in sales, client service, or investment product support roles.

  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity.

  • You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing Canadian Securities Course (CSC). Additional designations such as CFA, CIM, or CFP are considered assets.

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or in a related field.

  • You can demonstrate experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Communication Skills. You have excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for articulating complex information clearly and persuasively.

  • Analytical Thinking. You have the ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and client feedback to inform strategic decisions.
