Business Analyst – Capital Markets (Montréal)

About the Role

We are hiring a Business Analyst with proven and significant expertise in finance.

If you do not have experience in finance, please do not apply.

Beyond strong business knowledge, the ideal candidate will also bring a solid technical background (SQL is mandatory) and the ability to work across several initiatives at once. The role requires adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to operate between functional and technical perspectives.

You will be working in an English environment.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements across multiple projects.

• Translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.

• Support data operations, validation, and transformation with a strong focus on accuracy.

• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries (mandatory).

• Collaborate with developers, QA, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

• Adapt to changing priorities, switching effectively between projects.

• Maintain strong communication in hybrid/remote environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Capital markets expertise (mandatory): deep knowledge of financial products (such as Fixed Income, Bonds, Repos, Money Market, Equities, Mutual Funds, Derivatives, FX.)

• Technical background (mandatory): SQL database expertise is required. Additional experience with development tools/languages (Java, C++, Oracle, Sybase, VBA, etc.) is a strong asset.

• Hands-on experience with platforms such as Murex, Calypso, Openlink, Moody’s KMV, or similar.

• Ability to operate as both a technical expert and business analyst, bridging functional and technical aspects.

• Proven adaptability and flexibility to handle multiple projects at once.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Knowledge of reporting tools (Crystal Reports, Business Objects).

• Exposure to risk management platforms or data governance environments.
