We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Technical Writer to create, translate, and maintain high-quality product documentation for software used in the financial services industry. This role requires strong technical writing skills in English and French (Canadian), experience with localization tools and workflows, and the ability to work closely with subject matter experts, product teams, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple documentation projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate software user interface text and online help documentation from English into French with a high degree of accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

  • Review and validate the French-language user interface after implementation to identify and correct translation, formatting, terminology, and display issues.

  • Write, revise, and maintain technical documentation in multiple formats, including online help, user guides, and release notes, and follow established style guides, branding standards, terminology, and documentation best practices.

  • Work with subject matter experts to gather information and organize content into documentation that is clear, concise, and easy for end users to understand.

  • Maintain translation resources (translation memories and terminology) to ensure consistent language across products and documentation.

  • Manage writing and translation assignments to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product releases and ensure documentation is delivered on schedule.

  • Use AI-assisted writing, editing, translation, or productivity tools responsibly to improve efficiency and content quality, while applying human judgment to verify accuracy, compliance, tone, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Communication, Arts, Journalism, Translation, or a related field.

  • Formal post-secondary training in technical writing, technical communication, translation, localization, or a related discipline.

  • 5–7 years of experience in technical writing in the software or financial industry.

  • Professional-level written and verbal communication skills in English and French, including the ability to write and edit effectively in both languages.

  • Demonstrated experience translating technical or software-related content into French.

  • 5+ years of experience using MadCap Flare to create and maintain documentation.

  • 5+ years of experience using translation memory tools, preferably memoQ Pro, including maintaining translation memories and terminology databases.

  • Strong editing, proofreading, and quality review skills for both source and translated content.

  • Experience with screen capture and image editing tools such as Snagit or PaintShop Pro.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities independently.

  • Strong research skills and the ability to gather accurate information from technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail, especially in terminology, grammar, formatting, and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing or translating documentation for the financial services, wealth management, banking, brokerage, or fintech industry.

  • Familiarity with financial services concepts, terminology, regulatory language, or software workflows.

  • Understanding of documentation design, information architecture, content layout, and publishing best practices.

  • Experience working with style guides, controlled language, and terminology management.

  • Project management skills, including planning, tracking, and coordinating documentation deliverables.

  • Comfortable learning and adopting new tools, including AI-powered writing, translation, and content productivity tools, with an open-minded approach to using technology responsibly and effectively.
