  • Contributes to technical aspects of projects, delivering key design documents (e.g., specifications, schematics, software, manuals).
  • Ensures engineering outputs meet safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
  • Provides technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.

Customer & Sales Support

  • Contributes to ‘safety-by-design principles’, and other key concepts as part of design freeze meetings.
  • Participates in project meetings and resolves any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations.
  • Assists Sales with technical proposals, cost estimates, and presentations.

Knowledge Sharing & Quality Assurance

  • Applies basic design thinking and national/international standards.
  • Utilizes checklists to perform design verification according to engineering guidelines and processes.
  • Contributes and shares experiences related to engineering design, tools, and processes.

Process & Risk Management

  • Uses standard techniques, procedures, and tools within electrical scope of projects.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and contract requirements.
  • Identifies engineering opportunities and mitigates technical risks.

Contract & Project Control

  • Prepares Bill of Materials (BoM) to meet contract and margin targets.
  • Supports design change orders and variation requests.
  • Follows project work plans for quality, cost, and schedule.

Supply Chain & Manufacturing

  • Participates to RFQs preparation and evaluates supplier proposals.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing/testing to ensure design integrity.
  • Updates deliverables post-manufacturing and testing.

Commissioning & Service

  • Supports installation and commissioning phases.
  • Updates engineering documentation post-commissioning.
  • Occasionally travels to collect site data for integration.

What it takes to run what runs the world

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in electrical control system design, preferably in power plant environments.
  • Knowledge of synchronous machines, power electronics, and plant topologies (MV/LV switchgear, transformers, converters, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning, installation, testing, and integration of electrical/control systems.
  • Proficient in programming (Structured Text, Function Block, Ladder, Sequential Logic) and industrial protocols (Profibus, OPC, Modbus TCP/RTU).
  • Demonstrates strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (PMs, supply chain, manufacturing, service) to ensure contract compliance, technical quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures engineering deliverables meet safety, cybersecurity, and contractual standards; proactively addresses risks, changes, and compliance issues.
  • OIQ membership required.
  • Bilingualism (French & English) is an asset. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
