The opportunity
Reporting to a Team Leader, PI Underwriting and Billing, this role is accountable for assisting Brokers and Customers with more complex inquiries and accommodation requests pertaining to underwriting, billing, products, and pricing. You will be required to review and approve underwriting and billing exceptions in accordance with rules and authority levels. You will also handle referrals from other employees that fall outside of their authority. You will be required to effectively communicate rationale relative to potential changes to risk appetite, products, and guidelines, as well as premium dislocation. Decisions on accommodation outcomes will also need to be communicated to brokers, ensuring they understand the rationale behind our decisions.
You will be required to process more complex transactions not enabled by broker self-service functionality, including but not limited to billing inquiries, new business, policy changes, claims alerts, reinstatement exceptions, etc., in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority.
You will be required to review and assess risk for acceptability on more intermediate/advanced scenarios. You will ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and authority on all inquiries and transactions. Upon acknowledgement that a scenario requires further escalation, you would proceed with referral to the appropriate team/authority levels, ensuring you have gathered all pertinent information, and have supported your referral with a well-documented business case, including your recommendation and proposed terms.
What to expect
Broker and Customer Inquiries
Handles more complex inquiries and accommodation requests pertaining to underwriting, billing, products, and pricing via phone and email communication. Review and approve underwriting and billing exceptions in accordance with rules and authority levels. Provide advice and handle authority level referrals from other employees.
Transaction Processing
Process more complex transactions not enabled by broker self-service functionality, including but not limited to billing inquiries, new business, policy changes, claims alerts, reinstatement exceptions, etc., in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority. Work with the Center Systems Management team to create and monitor system related incidents.
What you bring
- Minimum 1 year completed as an Insurance Representative (required)
- Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
- 2+ years of Personal Insurance (auto and property) / underwriting experience (required)
- University Degree /College diploma or equivalent experience
- CIP / working towards designation preferred
- Knowledge of Economical's PI offerings and Guidewire an asset
- Knowledge of Economical’s CI, claims and billing systems an asset
- Have knowledge of property and casualty insurance, auto and property underwriting, and billing.
- Strong understanding of Guidewire systems preferred
- Customer service focused with a positive helpful attitude
- Excellent people skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coach and provide guidance to others
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Salary Range: $51,300 - $94,400
High degree of proficiency in English is required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
