Reporting to the Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) Product & Underwriting Strategy Senior Manager, the actuarial analyst will support the development and execution of business strategy to deliver premium and earnings goals and contribute to overall business objectives.     
Key responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of new Commercial P&C products and underwriting rules as well as enhancements to existing ones to meet customer needs and achieve business objectives.
  • Support the end-to-end management of Commercial P&C insurance products suite and underwriting strategy, monitor performance, identifying areas of opportunity, developing recommendations and driving changes to achieve business and financial objectives.
  • Grow knowledge on Commercial P&C emerging trends/developments, regulatory requirements, industry and customer trends, and competitive landscape as well as knowledge of the business, related tools, procedures and techniques. 
  • Support Commercial P&C product and underwriting strategy discussions and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in delivering day-to-day projects and initiatives.
  • Support business cases and proposals for Commercial P&C product and underwriting strategy initiatives. 
  • Support end‑to‑end analytical deliverables from extracting and preparing data, applying statistics and analytics, to translate data into meaningful insights.
  • Support portfolio performance and adjust product offering and underwriting levers based on risk appetite, competitive market, and profitability.
  • Support quantification of expected benefits and track realized outcomes for initiatives and projects.
  • Support translation of complex analyses into clear insights and recommendations tailored to non-technical and executive audiences.
  • Leverage market intelligence information on industry emerging trends, competitors and market information to support strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation to enhance product offering and underwriting capabilities and align with business goals.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes and guidelines in alignment with risk appetite.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Actuarial Science or a related field
  • Commercial P&C Product, Pricing or Underwriting experience is an asset
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Good interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Self-motivated, team player with high energy and ability to work independently
