About the role

We are currently seeking an Accounting Specialist within the Corporate Finance team who will play a critical role in supporting our growth. If you are looking for a stimulating career, in a dynamic and constantly changing work environment, this position is for you.

What you’ll do here:

The incumbent will actively participate in the process of recording and providing quality, reliable and timely financial information. In addition, the incumbent will:

• Complete monthly reporting deliverables including journal entry preparation.

• Assist in the validation financial data, as well as various reconciliations and controls.

• Support our business units in providing insights to monthly results including variance analysis.

• Participate in the financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.

• Take a critical look at the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations.

• Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise.

• Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files.

• Help facilitate the audit processes of general accruals and reconciliations and liaise with internal and external auditors.

• Contribute to maintaining a robust internal control environment. Maintain 52 109 documentation and ensure the accuracy of audit evidence for test purposes.

What you bring to the table:

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) – is required

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and IFRS accounting standards – is required

• Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is an asset

• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion and Essbase is an asset.

• Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change

• Discipline, autonomy and professionalism

• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders

• For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
