Build and operate Planet’s large-scale storage infrastructure, including object storage, metadata indexing, Elasticsearch search, event notification, and disaster recovery. Develop highly available backend services and APIs, monitor and tune production systems, respond to incidents, and improve performance. Advise engineers, lead technical projects, contribute to architectural roadmaps, participate in design reviews, and support engineering practices and documentation.

Build, maintain, and operate cloud-based automation, infrastructure, and microservices supporting satellite operations. Develop Mission Control systems and distributed services for spacecraft scheduling, tasking, and telemetry processing. Design critical infrastructure, select software technologies, maintain CI/CD workflows, and ensure service reliability. Collaborate with satellite operations, ground operations, pipeline, and product teams while supporting end users and resolving complex engineering problems.

Build and operate mission-control software and distributed microservices supporting satellite scheduling, tasking, telemetry processing, and fleet operations. Responsibilities include designing HTTP APIs, selecting technologies, deploying critical infrastructure, maintaining automation, and collaborating with satellite operations, ground systems, pipeline, and product teams. The role requires Python, relational databases, testing, CI/CD, Docker, GitLab CI, Linux, and strong communication skills, with cloud, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, microservices, and aerospace experience preferred.
