Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Team Leaders (TL) effectively lead and engage all team members in achieving established business goals and improving productivity. TLs provide supervision and guidance to the operators to ensure that their teams are performing at the highest level of quality and in the most efficient manner possible. They are responsible for conducting standardized work observations with operators on a regular basis and assisting in the preparation of standardized work documents.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

1.     Equivalent to completion of high school and /or related work experience.

2.     Stamping experience is preferred.

3.     Leadership courses and/or leadership experience an asset, including Presstran’s leader in training program

4.     Ability to understand, anticipate, follow and provide direction while exercising maturity of judgement.

5.     Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.

6.     Strong time management, leadership, communication, organizational and presentation skills

7.     Must successfully complete required training provided by Presstran (i.e. TWI Job Instructions & Job Relations Training, the operation of cranes, lift trucks and tuggers, unless previously certified through Presstran)

8.     Automated transfer press, coil line operation and blank de-stacking system experience.

9.     Must be computer literate.

10.  Apply Magna Charter and How We Work Together principles in day to day interactions.

11.  Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job.

12.  Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.

13.  Ability to work all three shifts, as required.

 

DUTIES:

1.     Monitors and adheres to production schedule and adapts to any changes.

2.     Instructs and organizes the department work force for required daily activities.

3.     Trains team members using the TWI Job Instruction Method for cycle work jobs and maintain an up-to-date training matrix for team members

4.     Ensures that all safety devices are checked at the start of each shift and that results are recorded.

5.     Ensures appropriate first-off procedures for all processes are followed.

6.     Ensures that all documentation is accurate on production, time, fastener check sheets, etc.

7.     Continually monitors production for quality, breakdowns, or problems and maintains Production Analysis boards.

8.     Ensures that the department is kept clean at all times.

9.     Ensures that all work-in-process and any/all parts are correctly identified and dispositioned.

10.  Fills out NCR's correctly and in a timely manner and ensures that parts are tagged accordingly.

11.  Assists in completing accident reports immediately after each incident.

12.  Responsible for consistently representing and upholding all company policies and decisions at all times.

13.  Provides input into the Performance Appraisal process.

14.  Provides employee coaching, development and training.

15.  Develops and maintains peer relationships and effectively builds and fosters teamwork within the department.

16.  Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people processes and equipment/machinery.

17.  Abides by all plant health, safety and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and ensures employees work in a safe and healthful manner in accordance with the occupational health and safety legislation.

18.  Follows and adheres to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards.

19.  Ability to operate production equipment, as required.

20.  Liaison between Production Team and Department Leadership.

21.  First contact for support departments (i.e. Quality, Maintenance, Toolroom, Materials etc.).

22.  Performs other related duties as required.
