We are actively seeking Summer Students, Well Operator to join our facilities located within 50km of North Battleford, SK. Reporting to the Well Lead , the summer student will be responsible for ensuring the area they are assigned is managed withing the design expectations with a high attention to the safety of the personal and equipment. The individual must be highly motivated and able to work in a team environment.
The Student Well Operator positions will begin May 2026 and will be available for a 4-month term. The expected work shift is 7-on, 7-off, rotating between day and night shifts.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of assigned equipment, examples include switching wells in/out of tests, logging/troubleshooting daily well performance vs targets, and daily interaction with plant operators
Participate in weekly well review meetings with Production Engineering.
Set an example in safety leadership with Strathcona’s employees and contractors.
Troubleshoot and work within the team to resolve process problems.
Perform housekeeping, performance monitoring, and maintenance activities.
Understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock out, emergency response, and implement safe working procedures.
Qualifications Include:
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program
A strong understanding of plant processes used in SAGD facilities.
Previous relevant experience is considered an asset.
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Self-motivated, open-minded and results orientated.
Able to interpret facility drawings (i.e. PID’s, H&M Balance sheets, line lists, and shutdown keys).
