Our Opportunity
At Chewy, we're on a mission to become the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents everywhere. The Data Platform team in the Marketing Sciences Organization sits at the intersection of data, marketing, and innovation - helping us understand our customers, personalize their experiences, and measure the impact of every interaction.
We're looking for a Staff Data Architect who is passionate about building data ecosystems that unlock insights and fuel smarter decisions. This is more than an architecture role - it's an opportunity to shape how Chewy thinks about marketing data at scale and to help drive the future of customer engagement.
What You'll Do
  • Design the blueprint for how marketing data is collected, connected, and activated across Chewy.
  • Build the foundation for advanced analytics, experimentation, and personalization by creating scalable and reliable data models.
  • Partner with engineers, data scientists, and analysts to bring data to life in ways that help marketers make smarter, faster decisions.
  • Champion data quality and trust, ensuring that every report, dashboard, and model is powered by reliable, well-structured data.
  • Bring fresh ideas to the table by evaluating emerging data and martech tools that help us innovate and stay ahead.
  • Act as a connector, bridging the gap between business needs and technical possibilities to unlock new opportunities for growth.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • 10+ years of experience designing data systems and architectures - ideally with large-scale customer or marketing data.
  • Deep expertise in data modeling (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL) and building for both analytics and operational needs.
  • Strong experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) and data pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Kafka, etc.).
  • Familiarity with martech and adtech ecosystems (CRM, CDPs, attribution tools, and digital media platforms).
  • A collaborative mindset - you thrive in cross-functional environments and know how to translate complex problems into clear solutions.
  • A strong grasp of data governance, security, and compliance, with an ability to balance innovation with responsibility.

Bonus Skills
  • Hands-on work with real-time data pipelines that power personalization or triggered campaigns.
  • Experience supporting machine learning pipelines in production environments.
  • Curiosity about customer behavior, attribution, and campaign optimization.

Why You'll Love This Role
Joining Marketing Sciences at Chewy means you'll be surrounded by teammates who are curious, collaborative, and passionate about data's role in transforming customer experiences. You'll have the chance to:
  • Shape the future of how Chewy measures and optimizes marketing impact.
  • Work at scale, with rich datasets spanning millions of customers, campaigns, and interactions.
  • Make your mark, building the architecture that enables innovation in personalization, attribution, and beyond.
  • Be part of a team that cares - about data, about collaboration, and about making a difference for pet parents everywhere.
