Elevate data-driven decision-making at Lightspeed! As a Staff Data Analyst, you'll be the go-to expert in data analytics, turning complex data into actionable insights and captivating stories. You'll lead the charge in mastering data models, ensuring data quality, and setting the highest standards for analytics. Mentoring fellow analysts and driving the adoption of new data resources, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering a data-centric culture across the organization. NOTE: As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.

Role

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in data analytics and partner closely with the Business to promote data-driven decision-making among business partners. This would include proactively identifying and proposing opportunities for advanced analytics to solve complex business problems 
  • Master data models inside out to spot inconsistencies and edge cases. Translate complex datasets into actionable insights that predict future outcomes and deliver impactful analyses that can be easily consumed by stakeholders (including but not limited to prescribing strategic actions)
  • Present compelling data stories and visualize insights that captivate our business partners, demonstrating the potential of advanced analytics to drive value and optimize operations. 
  • Contribute actively to the adoption of new data resources, including the Key Metrics in the Data Warehouse
  • Lead the development and adoption of the highest analytics standards and methodologies among the Data Office and across the organization
  • Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity by combining both exploratory and robust solutions
  • Mentor Data Analysts to help them build their business and technical capabilities, remove blockers, and share your knowledge across Lightspeed
  • Create training guides, templates, and recorded training sessions to help Lightspeeders understand how to accurately view data, use data for insights, and the implications of data-driven analysis. This includes training on advanced analytics concepts and tools. 
  • Identify and contribute to the implementation of improvements to data quality, security, and query performance
  • Ensure data integrity and contribute to automation and monitoring
  • Promote and uphold data governance principles to safeguard our data assets and empower our teams to make data-driven decisions with confidence
  • Actively contribute to the construction of the Data Office and the achievement of its collective objectives
  • Collaborate closely with Analytics Engineers during development efforts to build new models, QA, and implementation of new analysis.

What will make you successful: 

  • Extensive experience in data analytics with a focus on SaaS metrics, including predictive modeling and forecasting. 
  • Proven track record of identifying and successfully implementing advanced analytics use cases to solve complex business problems and drive tangible value. 
  • Expert-level proficiency in data analysis technologies, with a particular emphasis on Data Visualization, Business Intelligence and Data Modeling
  • Recognized expert in SQL, and at least one statistical programming language (Python or R). Knowledge of key libraries and frameworks for data manipulation and analysis (e.g. Pandas). 
  • Strong business acumen and a passion for bridging the gap between technical insights and business strategy
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of statistical concepts, and their appropriate application to business questions. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex insights with clarity and impact, including the ability to “tell a data story” that persuades stakeholders to adopt data-driven recommendations. 
  • Familiarity with data tools, including cloud platforms like GCP, BigQuery, and Dataform. Familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Looker) and version control with GitHub is a plus, along with experience in Salesforce
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-starter mentality, and the ability to drive projects autonomously in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts and sharing knowledge across teams to build an organization-wide-data-driven culture.
